Draft Master Plan
The master planning process has come to major milestone - the Draft Master Plan. Melding the best ideas of the scenarios, the Draft Master Plan is the first attempt at establishing the 10-year vision for UT's campuses. The master planning team will present the Draft Master Plan on Wednesday, December 7 at 6pm. It will be held in the SSOE Seminar Room of Nitschke Hall (NI 1027). Parking will be available in area 20. The presentation is open to all (Public, Faculty, Staff, Students, Alumni, etc.)

For those unable to attend the meeting in person, the Draft Master Plan will be posted to the master plan website shortly after the December 7 meeting.

We appreciate your ongoing interest in the University of Toledo campus master plan.

RE: Draft Master Plan
Very interested to see if they saw the beauty in my proposed Glass Dome and night class taco carts in the U-Hall-Gillam-Stranahan corridor.

Draft Master Plan
Glass dome. 1970s old school. Thought that idea died with Centennial / Savage hall construction

RE: Draft Master Plan
MY Glass Dome looks more like a crystal palace or castle. Of course it's first important to invent the non-focusing-prismatic glass, melted turf and all that you know.

But the taco cart idea is good isn't it! You know you want it.

I realize this is a 10 year plan but I hope we can get the ball rolling on a lot of it in the next 24 to 48 months. I don't even know if 10 year plans exist anymore with the quickly changing world we live in.

RE: Draft Master Plan
Operational efficiencies, while improving the classroom experience should always be first priority. Everything else; revenue, research funding and academic standing, will follow from those things.

RE: Draft Master Plan
Hi everyone, the final draft of the master plan is being unveiled tomorrow, on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, which is also my birthday, by our hard working President and her team. If anyone can get it done, its her leadership, with many things already done or in progress. One of the priorities is consolidation of athletic facilities and I see them moving from Scott Park to main campus. Anyhow, if anyone gets their hands on that plan tomorrow, please post it here! Thanks

Agree. Unless President Gaber is here for the entire 10 years I can promised you that there will likely be a new plan developed before the 10 years is up. If she remains, the plan will likely be kept but probably revisited from time to time with modifications if appropriate.

Whether it is a University, a business or a government agency, virtually every new leader of an organization or division with some autonomy wants to place their own stamp and imprint on the organization they head (and that goes well beyond just remodeling their offices) because they all want to be viewed as "an innovative leader", not merely a manager. Among others things, a change at the top is usually accompanied not only by a rash of new planning exercises leading to new "master plans" and "strategic plans" but also with extensive re-evaluation of current policies and protocols thru "self study" committees and/or "external consultants" and not uncommonly, some "restructuring". Whether consciously or unconsciously all top administrators are always working on either building their resume to get their next job as they climb the "corporate ladder", or on their legacy if they are planning to retire after leaving their current position.

Planning is necessary; however, when there is a series of administrative turnovers at the top in a relatively short time frame, then the inevitable repetitive planning and revaluation becomes no more than reinventing the wheel and productivity commonly suffers because too much effort (time and money) is being diverted (i.e., wasted) on planning rather than mission.

RE: Draft Master Plan
If it's actually a plan of action as opposed to "all the right words," and the University has bought in, as long as the revenue is there to implement, I don't see why it wouldn't get done. To me, a plan that isn't focused on instruction, particulalry Freshmen retention and research as opposed to more administrative heads, is doomed.

It was dead back in the early 70's, when it was first proposed.
Still think the Glass Bowl should be expanded at some point. Preferably,
with some type of Glass Enclosed Grandstand/Facility on the South End
of the Stadium that makes it look like the Glass BowL. Would like the GB
to have the MAC's largest capacity with the best TV/Media production capability.

MAC Stadium Capacity:
Kelly/Shorts 30,255
Waldo 30,200
Rynearson 30,200
Infocision 30,000
UB Stadium 29,013
Glass Bowl 26,244
Dix 25,319
Yager 24,286
Doyt 24,000
Peden 24,000
Huskie Stadium 23,595
Schuemann 22,500

Does our number on this list include the reduction in seats from the east side renovation?
