obamacare and rate hike announcement date...what was he thinking?
why would you draft something that is destined to fail knowing the entire time that the rate hikes would be announced two weeks before the election?

I can't laugh any harder at "ineptitude"

They basically shoved it as far back as they could. Rate hikes and changes must be approved by each state's regulatory commission. Then they have to send the approvals to the carriers so that they can finalize their product offerings, get those rolled into renewal offers for existing customers, and the corporations can then roll out the benefits announce and enrollment to their employees AND give the employees enough time to review and make their choices prior to a mid-december lock-in date. But yea, Obama was trying to get that date pushed back, it just isnt logistically possible. I'm surprised he didnt opt to move the elections forward.

They kept trying to push things off... In Minnesota Mark Dayton and the Democrats wanted the release date to be after election day, the GOP shamed them into an October release..

hence, the point.....

it just cracked me up that any rational thinking person had to know that going in.....it's like driving up the debt to unrecoverable levels and expecting it to vanish.....

so in the end, what does that really say????

the leadershite consisting of obummer/dem/staffers/etc are dumber than a rock (*thinking long term solution).....

couldn't manage the 'annual enrollment'. All they could have done was pushed it to November 2017

I think they honestly didn't know what they were doing.

They also didnt have a way to "fix" it once they thought about it. The bill had passed the senate prior to the house, the senate make-up changed, and the house had to approve the bill as-was or it wouldnt ever go through. So they couldnt go back prior to the president signing it and fix anything. (or manipulate the timing, in this case)

Obama, through illegal executive action, tried to delay some of the nastiness, but he couldnt delay the annual date that the rates had to be approved.

And when republicans forced through the change to the law that prevented any further taxpayer funding for any shortfalls to the insurance carriers, that sealed its fate. The insurance companies had been keeping the rates artificially low, and then when they lost money, would be reimbursed through the backdoor by the taxpayer. Now they had to be able to operate off of the rates without the bail-out, and the rates skyrocketed to reflect what the true rates should have been without the bail out. And just in time for the 2016 election, that part of the nastiness hit.
