Opinions?

I think a loss of any kind.....but especially a big loss like I fear it will be.....could devastate Lou's program. With Georgia waiting the next week.....and Tennessee two weeks later......we could be staring at a nother losing campaign, which could lead to an awful recruiting year which undermines our future.

I said all along this Virginia game was critical not only to our season, but to Holtz' future. I'm not backing down from that statement now that game week is here.

What is sad is that no matter the outcome on Satiddy, the next weeks always get bigger and bigger. This conference is just too hard for head-cases and fragile athletes.

Good to see you talking football :)

That's the problem with a tough SEC slate. Games like Virginia, Arkansas and Ole Miss......which would be considered some of your tougher games on many schedules......become MUST-WIN games on ours. That's a big indicator of just how tough our schedule is.

In the back of my mind always, though......are those ridiculous Miami Hurricanes. Every time I see them play I think "What's the point?" They've got an NFL team playing college ball down there, and the rest of the nation may as well give up. Heck.....even their trainer is the Miami Dolphins trainer!!! :frown:

Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee - might as well pack it in

We got an asteroid gonna hit us in 2014, need to get our collective ducks in a row. 03-razz

Gal, I agree with some of your statement & premise, but not entirely to the same extent as you.

Yes, I do feel a big loss to UVA would in all probability lead to another losing campaign, & yes, I think it would hurt our recruiting efforts in comparison to the last 2 years, but I still think we're going to have a decent year in '04, & that will help jump start recruiting again. Therefore, I don't think a big loss to UVA would be the death nail for the Holtz regime

Well, Drake, I certainly hope you're right. It's just that I've seen this pattern so many times before. And I know you have too.......

I know. I'm just thinking that our last 2 recruiting classes will really come to fruition in '04 which will lead to another good class. To top it off, many of those guys will also be around in '05, so that leads me to believe we'll have another decent team followed by another decent class.

However, if we flounder next year I'll share your present concerns.

Isn't "wait until next year" a little over-used in our case?

I am feeling better about the UVa game -but will come down to earth quickly no matter the outcome Satiddy since UGa looms.

Sure it is, & with good reason, but we're talking about the future of the Holtz regime here, & in essence the future of our program in relation to how we play this Saturday.

Kinda hard to talk about the future with out mentioning "next year". 03-wink
