building for a breakout season next year and along the way growing game in game out this season. Sure there are some letdowns, UTEP game being one of those. But for me personally I love the look of this team. From a QB to the lines and the offensive backfield that can control the flow of a game

I've only seen UTSA play yesterday against Middle. I pretty much agree with your take on them. Another thing is I believe this is their head coach's first head job. If I'm wrong I apologize. Yesterday I thought he made some rash calls trying to put a kill shot into Middle when he was just RAMMING IT DOWN THEIR THROATS...lol. Sorry Middle fans but I enjoyed watching that. I believe he'll learn from that. Or maybe he's a gunslinger, who knows.

Their defense flies to the ball pretty good. I didn't see the hit on Stockstill but I haven't seen a lot of Middle guys screaming...only one but he's deranged. I've seen people scream about Western hurting their players too. It's what happens when you're winning. And when your defense if flying to the ball. It's usually part of winning football.

I was very impressed with their QB yesterday. He had a mention in the 'rate the quarterbacks' thread at the top. I hadn't seen him until yesterday. Very impressive young man and I found out he was a former walkon. You gotta love a story like that. Kinda like our center. Former walkon that overcomes and does well.

Btw, what you see as "streaky", I see as a team that started the year slow under a new regime and tons of new faces in the starting lineup, and has since found itself. It's easy to dismiss that if you haven't watched this team every week, but unlike ODU, we've had a fairly challenging schedule in the last 5 weeks, and I'm just saying that with WKU being your only opponent over .500 in that time, it's gonna be interesting to see how the USM game goes.

Regarding our game in Ruston, I'm not sure we have the firepower to keep up with La Tech's offense, and am very worried about that game, but let's not write off what we've done in the last 5 weeks because one of those games was 5-OT loss. Texas A&M just lost to previously 3-5 Mississippi State also. **** happens sometimes in conference games, and credit to the other side when they win one they perhaps weren't supposed to.

I can assure you that no one among the ODU fans that frequent this forum takes the person that initiated this thread seriously regarding anything he says about ODU, much less where he ranks them. We can guess what he is going to say even before reading it he is so predictable.

Any other comments by ODU fans (and others) about where ODU should be rated among the conference power rankings is just that, comments. Much like you have given yours. It's a message board. That is the whole purpose. Most people give their honest rational thoughts, but there are a very very small minority that simply can't.

As to some of the ODU fans saying that the team is improved from earlier in the season ... that is probably a factual statement. Earlier in the year they didn't have a reliable extra point kicker or field goal kicker due to injury. Now they do. The starting QB had only started just a few games in his career. Now he has double the amount of experience. The starting running back had a couple of leg injuries that had limited his effectiveness. Now he is back to normal.

ODU is a pretty good CUSA team. We have lost badly to 3 good teams and dominated the 6 other teams. I think it is safe to say we are behind WKU wnd LT but above the worst in conference.

It is odd that we won pretty easily vs Charlotte and UTSA and see people rank them ahead of us. If we played right now i think ODU would be favored, which is supported by advanced statistics.

Having said that i expect antough game and possibly anloss to
southern miss. I think they are probably 3rd best in conference talent wise.

The goal is to see who comes out on top at the end of the year. Who wins the conference. From there it's getting to a good bowl and beating another conference. Is Penn State better than Ohio St? Was Virginia Tech better than Ohio st the year OSU went on a major run and won the first CFP? That's why it's so hard to beat everyone and go undefeated. The power rankings for us in conference don't matter, it only matters to those in the hunt of the top 4. This stuff is essentially fun to play around with and can change from week to week. Very minimal data to have computers come up with a random way to favor certain teams especially what we have seen in this conference.

One or two people can ruin it. We're halfway through a season and its very noticeable just from a few of the odu faithful. As long as you can back it up on the field then so be it.

Don't forget the "only beat Rice by a point". Literally every power ranking thread has fans bickering and objecting to others rankings. If anything though I'd say UTSA fans must be feeling high on themselves after their win. I don't remember this many Roadrunners commenting on a thread all season.

Really?! because there is some pretty convincing evidence from THIS season that says otherwise. I guess a two TD margin isn't what it used to be.
