Stats CAA Games Only (With all CAA teams having played 5-6 CAA games is a better comparison using CAA games only because of teams' widely varying OOC opponents).

Some notables. Lauletta leads the CAA in passing yards & TDs, but Schor is #1 in efficiency (Lauletta is #2).

The only RU RB in the top 10 in rushing is down with an injury.

From what I've seen of RU watching their games vs Towson & VU it seems like close to half of Laulettas passes are thrown to Brown. From CAA stats all games:

Will certainly be an interesting matchup, but I still favor JMU's O-line. We're averaging allowing 1 sack per game, with 3 coming against UNC.

Will certainly be an interesting matchup, but I still favor JMU's O-line. We're averaging allowing 1 sack per game, with 3 coming against UNC.

The O-line deserves a ton of credit, but they are also helped by a spread offensive scheme that is designed for quick releases in passing situations. I am less concerned about our QB getting sacked and more interested in Richmond's DL as it pertains to the run. If we can run on them and stick to that plan, I see good things coming Saturday.

On the other side of the ball, JMU has the lowest rated passing defense facing the highest rated passing offense. The stats are skewed a bit due to trash yards in games where the Dukes have held large leads, but we have also seen that (although better than last year) this year's defense is still susceptible to high powered passing offenses.

This is THE game of the week in the FCS, not even close!

#1 pass offense vs. worst pass defense (#12) scares me. The JMU DL will win or lose this game.

RE: JMU @ RU thread
Well in JMU's defense, 1044 passing yards given up in 5 CAA games:
512 vs UNH (282 in 1st 50 min, 230 in last 10)
532 other 4 games, 133 avg, which would be good for #2 in the CAA.

Here's the got to be an NCAA record setting game to game imrovement:
512 yds passing given up vs UNH.
12 yds passing given up vs URI

Totally BDK, that's why I wrote "trash yards" although I had no idea it was all vs. UNH. I know UNH fans will argue they were hard-earned yards, but I think JMU just got lazy with the lead. No foot off the defensive pedal vs. URI though - unreal change from one week to the next!

Had a feeling this would be the case, but didn't think we'd jump quite that high if you took out UNH. Here's to hoping RU doesn't have an all world TE to run up and down the field.

RE: JMU @ RU thread
The matchups are intriguing as each team's offensive strength should flourish.
When it comes to an excellent passing game vs an excellent running game I will always take the excellent running game. With fast tempo the Dukes should be able to pound it on the ground as the game wears on. If RU decides to drop an extra man in the box, then I expect a big day for QB keepers and WR end arounds.

I suspect the JMU defense will give up plenty of passing yards, but am looking for a few D-line tips, some sacks, and perhaps an INT to create critical drive stopping scenarios.

Should be a great college football game.
Richmond is very good, but I don't think they are as good as last year.

JMU 34
Richmond 27

Comcast SportsNet Plus if your are in the mid-Atlantic area. That is channel 642-1 on DirecTV.

No, but they do have a pretty doggone good tall WR that gave us fits last year. Brian Browne's name will be called a lot on Saturday. He is their number 1 target.
