Week 10 Predictions
Thursday Nov 3rd. ESPN U
stAte @ Ga State...GSU defense keeps this close till the 3rd or 4th quarter.
Texas State @ App State....By 3 scores or more
Georgia Southern @ Ole Miss... gonna get ugly seeing how Ole miss is coming off a bad loss.
Idaho @ ULL....I think Idaho has just enough to win this one in the 4th quarter.
USA @ ULM....USA should win this one fairly easily.
UMASS @ TROY....Neal Brown is a Umass Alumni. Wont predict as I dont predict my own team...KEEP in mind this team might be the best 7 loss team in the country. They have already played 4 P5 teams this year in Florida, Boston College, Miss state and South Carolina. They lost to South Carolina only 34-28 and Miss State 47-35. I don't like the line at 23 at all and think it will be much closer.

RE: Week 10 Predictions
Thursday Nov 3rd. ESPN U
stAte @ Ga State...I keep thinking that GSU will eventually figure it out like last year but that just ain't happening. I'll keep picking stAte in Belt games until someone beats them (or until they play Troy). Wolves win 21-17.
Texas State @ App State - Could be a trap game for App but I think they're too focused and talented to get trapped by this team. App D is playing lights out and will give the Bobcats a very long day at The Rock. Apps 38-9.
Georgia Southern @ Ole Miss - Playing at Ole Miss is just what GS needed after last Thursday's awful offensive performance against App. The Eagle defense will play tough but I don't see any answers when they have the ball; hope QB Ellison doesn't get killed as he won't back down but the numbers are against him. (Give Breda at least 20 carries please) Ole Miss wins 41-10.
Idaho @ ULL - Both teams need this one to boost their opportunity to get to bowl status. I expect a shootout as both offenses are better than the defenses they are playing against. Vandals in a mild upset 38-34.
USA @ ULM - Which USA team will show up for this one is the question. Either way USA has too much D for the Warhawks, even on the road. USA wins 24-10.
UMASS @ TROY - UMass is likely better than their record indicates but they will take another tough loss in the Alabama heat. Troy keeps their march to their Belt showdowns going. Trojans 38-17.

Georgia Southern won't break 20 points in any single remaining game, maybe not even cumulatively

You guys were scoring 30 points per game before APP. Maybe credit them with a good defense? Ole Miss does not have a good defense, so it's certainly possible you guys get to 21. Is Upshaw out for the season?

We scored 50 something in the blowout win vs. Savannah State to pull that average up, and then 31 with garbage time scores vs WMU. Every other score has been low 20's except App at 10, only 3 of which were offensive. They do have a good defense, but our offense is very, very poor. I stand by my statement.
Edit: Not sure about Upshaw, this coaching staff shares Zero information about players' injury status. I hope for his long-term health and wellbeing that he is done for the season so he can begin to recuperate mentally and physically from this season.

Haven't you heard? The sky is falling. GS has lost to two of the three top performing teams in the conference... that means they're the worst team in the history of the world and will never win another game ever ever.
It's amazing... GS fans manage to be MORE loud and annoying when they're losing than they are when they're winning. That's quite a feat.

And even then, those three offensive points were from a ten yard drive.

Losing seasons are so rare in Statesboro that the Sky probably indeed is falling when they happen.

Agreed! It'll be closer simply because UMass can put points on the board with relative ease. This will be more like a 7 to 9 point win...late.

We don't put up with average (or in this case, way below average) football in Statesboro. Sorry if that offends people.
1994 - 6-5 (Stowers was fired after the next season when he went 9-4 -- he won a National Championship in 1990)
1996 - 4-7 (interim coach)
2006 - 3-8 (Van Gorder -- gone after 1 season)
2008 - 6-5
2009 - 5-6 (Hatcher fired after 1 decent and 2 mediocre seasons)
These are all our seasons with 6 or fewer wins. That gets coaches fired around here.

RE: Week 10 Predictions
1. Redwolves handles Panthers. I think the Panthers will have given up on the season since they lost to South Alabama last weekend. BTW Why does Trent Miles wear Under Armour when everyone else is wearing the swoosh?
2. Mountaineers cruise past Bobcats. App State has 2nd string in by mid 3rd quarter
3. Rebels over Eagles. Maybe Summers learns that running the option and making the game shorter is best here.
4. ULL squeaks past Vandals. Big swing game for both teams here
5. Troy easily handles UMASS. This one will not be close. Setting up the showdown next week.
6. Jaguars vs Warhawks. No prediction.

Not sure if you were watching, but it did not take a defensive genius to pull off what App did. The offensive play calling was obvious and we had zero misdirection (characteristic of the option). 3 straight RB Wild Cat plays at Appy's 9... everyone watching knew what was about to happen... 3 times.... kick a FG
Some of the advanced metrics paint an awful picture of our offense.
The regression has been real this season... it was only a matter of time before we start tanking that average.

Not sure where you're getting your data from, but UMASS is average on offense, and we have a pretty good defense. I think you'll see a fired up TROY team, not the one that came out sluggish feeling themselves after Idaho.
