With the rise of SMU and Houston, if Memphis and Temple can get back to being Top 25/NCAA tournament teams every year then we have a really solid top 6 in the AAC year in and year out. Tulsa will also be solid just about every year.

During the AAC's first year there were a few weeks in 2014 when we had 5 teams in the AP top 25. Yeah, one was Louisville but still impressive imho.

You think this year?
Tubby overachieved so we will see. He has coached in tougher leagues than the American for basketball

Tubby is easily capable of overach

ECU's added size this season:

Deng Riak - 6'10" 225lbs
Former ESPN 4*
Offers from: ECU, Florida, Houston, Minnesota, Oregon, Tulsa, USF, Virginia Tech, FIU, FAU, FGCU

Jabari Craig - 6'10" 235lbs
Offers from: Arizona St, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Houston, Kansas State, LSU, Maryland, Miss St, New Mexico, Purdue, Southern Cal

Andre Washington - 7'1" 235lbs
Transfer from Wake Forest

Regardless of the history of these guys, they will fundamentally transform our team, and what we try to do on offense and defense. With talented returners in Tyson, Barkley, and White... this could be a good year for ECU hoops! 04-cheers

Thank goodness. Historically, Lebo's teams build over the season. By tournament time, Lebo can make ECU a threat. Let's hope this year is magic.

Fire the coach who had a 167–73 record at Memphis and hire the below guy sounds like a good start for a program that intends to win conference titles:
-AP College Coach of the Year (2003)
-Naismith College Coach of the Year (2003)
-NABC Coach of the Year (2003)
-Henry Iba Award (2003)
-Jim Phelan Award (2005)
-2× MVC Coach of the Year (1994, 1995)
-3× SEC Coach of the Year (1998, 2003, 2005)
-Big 12 Coach of the Year (2016)
-John R. Wooden Legends of Coaching Award (2016)
-Sporting News National Coach of the Year (2016)
-NABC District 8 Coach of the Year (2016)

UC is #25 in USA first poll...I think that's about right but 30 isn't far off. It's within range anyway.

We have some tough early tests (Rhode Island who is currentl #24 in USA poll), Duke, Iowa State, Butler, etc.

I've always thought Tubby Smith was a decent coach. I don't really take into account what he did at UK because I could probably coach UK to the final four any given year since they have 5-8 NBA draft picks on any roster. But we'll see.
