CBS rankings for every basketball team in the NCAA - BcatMatt13 - 10-19-2016 11:29 AM

19. UConn
30. Cincinnati
56. SMU
72. Houston
75. Temple
83. Memphis
110. UCF
141. ECU
151. Tulsa
211. South Florida
254. Tulane

Think UC should be 5-10 spots higher. Houston and SMU I think should both be higher.

I wonder if Lebo read this:

141. East Carolina
Caleb White, B.J. Tyson, Kentrell Barkley. That's the three-headed apparatus that needs to get East Carolina out of the dregs and competing in the American. This program is in need of a jolt in the worst way. I think it improves from last year's 12-20 mark, absolutely.

ECU is 100 spots ahead of someone else in this conference. I don't know what to do with that....

On what basis is UCF almost top 100 with a new coach, new system, and only 7 scholarship players?

Memphis and Temple have to get their sh!t together. We are counting on them to be quality hoops programs.

Was 247 an influence on this by any chance? lol

With the rise of SMU and Houston, if Memphis and Temple can get back to being Top 25/NCAA tournament teams every year then we have a really solid top 6 in the AAC year in and year out. Tulsa will also be solid just about every year.

Very simple. The press just looks at the surface and does no actual research. Its no different than the horrific Notre Dame teams getting top 15 pre season rankings in football year in and year out. In UCF's basketball case, they see a familiar name coaching it....done deal, enough to over rank them by at least 50 spots.

Take a breath. This is a pre-season ranking. Temple is typically underrated pre-season. The ranking may also be influenced by reports of injuries to 2 key players. One of those players will redshirt this year, and the other one will most likely play most of the year.

I think USF should be at least 25-50 spots....lower.

USF has made a serious commitment to the program in terms of facilities which are among the best in the conference. Fans also bought into the program after Stan Heath's magical year where we won two NCAA games. However, finding the right coach has been an unending search for the holy grail type of challenge.

Currently the program is in limbo b/c of the pending investigation which means there won't be any resolution until next year at the earliest. The sad thing is from what I heard the "academic fraud" charges are vastly overstated and USF will likely get a slap in the wrist with some minor violations. That may be enough to push out our current coach and start yet....another....rebuilding process.

Top 150!

RE: CBS rankings for every basketball team in the NCAA - b0ndsj0ns - 10-19-2016 01:00 PM

I really struggle to believe ECU is actually gonna finish anywhere close to that in RPI, but hey maybe I'm wrong.

I take it Tulsa lost everyone? That is a quite a dropoff for them.

I'm sure if your best young player nearly died in a car accident, no one would say **** like this.

We lost a lot and likely will have a down year. But not 150th and behind ECU and UCF bad. This is almost comical.

We brought in a handful of transfers/ jucos and had 2 redshirt guys. Plus good freshman. So we shouldn't be terrible.

RE: CBS rankings for every basketball team in the NCAA - KNIGHTTIME - 10-19-2016 01:33 PM

Any injuries and we are a 250 rpi team. Starting 5 is ok. I'll be very happy if we hover around 100.

I know it's like a broken record, but I honestly think ECU has a shot to be pretty decent this season. If we get the PG position figured out, that is. We have the kind of size that you need in the American (for once) and if BJ Tyson has the kind of year we all know he is capable of having, then it could be a fun year.

Last season for the VAST majority of the year, we had no size. 4 guys 6'8" or taller.

Zangari - 6'9
Aja - 6'9
Nzege - 6'8"
Williams - 6'8"

THIS season:
Nzege - 6'8"
Williams - 6'8"
Riak - 6'10"
Craig - 6'10"
Washington - 7'1"

I am fully aware that height is not the only factor when it comes to rebounding/defense, etc... but we're actually going to have rim protectors this year, and might be able to pull down some boards for once. Although I wouldn't be shocked if 6'5" Kentrell Barkley leads us in rebounding.

SMU at 56? We will certainly miss Nic Moore, but that seems ridiculous.

Not last!
