Heinicke is still on the Vikings, although the next few weeks will be telling as far as how much the Vikes value him

RE: WKU vs ODU
Our 1 defensive strength is ODU's strength as well. That should be a fun match up. I also don't think ODU can keep up with our scoring. Tops by 17.

DW is comfortable enough throwing the ball and he has some big targets which helps. We'll certainly try to run the ball, I think controlling the ball and TOP will be part of our strategy. However, if that doesn't work I think we'll still be able to beat you in the air for the most part. But I agree we won't win a boat race against WKU. Our offense isn't as high powered as LT or MT's but I think(hope) we might have a better defense. If we're to win this game our defense is going to have to come up with some stops/turnovers/making you settle for FGs. If we can do that, I see a 34-31 victory, if not then yeah something like 45-28 sounds about right.

RE: WKU vs ODU
Two days until the Monarchs and the Toppers go at it. The Toppers remain a 13-13.5 point favorite and rightfully so, but I suspect the final score will be closer than that. Coming off a bye week, ODU has had two weeks to prepare and is going into the game with a little bit of a chip on their shoulder and knowing that a win would put them into the drivers seat in the East. Western is coming off a tough win at MTSU, and has shown a propensity (at least once this year at Miami OH) for playing down to the level of their opponent. (Miami has only one win this year and that is against two-win Kent State.)
Bottom line, I believe that the stars are aligning for a really good game, and an upset victory for the Monarchs is not out of the question. Here's hoping I don't have to come back and eat crow after the game.

Oops. Thanks. Fixed it.
Here's a nice article on the game from Bowling Green that includes a video worth watching of an interview with DC Nick Holt.

If Western turns it over 3 times inside the ODU 10 yardline Line Western did against Miami....it will be a close game
If Western turns what should have been two should INTs that pops out of the Western's defenders hand and the ball goes up in the air and falls into a ODU receivers hands for a TD. Like Western did against Miami....it will be a close game.
35 point swing on those 5 plays
But one thing is in ODU's favor and it's Western has turned the ball over and had two other balls goes throw a defenders hand (other than Miami) for a catch that lead to a TD
Doesn't look like weather will play a role...
low 60s to mid 50s and hardly no wind (3mph) or rain

Yeah we're 3rd best in FBS in turnover margin. We'll probably need a couple to go our way on Saturday to win.

Im not intending to knock Western Kentucky, but Miami had a 23-19 first down advantage and a 424 to 404 yardage advantage. Granted, Miami ran more plays due to the punt return TD, but I would have expected a more lopsided game. (yardage wise) WKU probably had a little bit of a letdown coming off Bama and knowing they had Vandy coming up.

Miami had I believe 70 yards on a pass that Western's safety had in his hands but stumbled and fell backwards and the ball pops up in the air into the hands of a receiver behind him and goes for a TV...
9 out of 10 times that's a INT
at the end of the game Miami throws a 50 yard hail marry and three Western's players are waiting for the ball...Safety again has it to pop out of his hands and goes back to the receiver standing two feet behind him for a TV
Looking at total stats can be misleading up till the dropped INT that turns into a 70 yard TD Miami had a TOTAL OF 192 yards with 5 seconds left in the 3rd...
two balls that should have been INTs ...probably are 9 out of 10 times or at least knocked down added 120 yards to their total
But Western has the knack for letting those type of plays slip through their hands this season...had one against Tech and had a game ending INT go right through the hands of a DP vs Vandy....
so I wouldn't be shocked to see it tomorrow vs ODU
In a way the ODU scares me and in a way I see a blowout...Western has been improving on offense as the season goes along. The defense is getting more healthy every day and our strength (run defense) plays into what ODU's game plan will most likely be.

RE: WKU vs ODU
That really doesn't change my point though. Miami is awful and they should put up a massive yardage advantage. But, it's just 1 game and really doesn't mean a ton.
Its funny that people are talking about ODU's running game because most ODU fans think they pass the ball too often, lol. I think the point though is that they have been really good running the ball...but, the passing game is pretty effective as well. They have just gone to a more running attack in the last three games because of leads and the opposing defenses lack of ability to stop the run. Don't be surprised if ODU tries to establish a passing game, Davids thrown the ball pretty well after the App game.
I think it could be a pretty high scoring game. You guys are used to that, right?

With Westerns defense weakness defending the pass I expect ODU to pass. it your coach likes eating clock so think he try's that this game. Now if he's smart he comes out throwing 5 yard passes then 10 then 25. That's den our biggest weakness this season

RE: WKU vs ODU
DW has gotten away with throwing up wounded ducks when under pressure -- a couple or more times a game. Only one of those has been intercepted, and that interception was voided by pass interference. My biggest concern going into this game is that he continues that bad habit, and it costs the Monarchs a couple of turnovers. If that happens, we are in trouble. If that does not happen, it should be a pretty good, competitive game, especially if the Toppers cough the ball up a couple of times.

Maybe not against everyone but last years game against Western tells a different story. Western's offense this season is not much different than last year....as of late.
ODU tried to eat clock till they fell behind by 21...runs and short passes and eating clock between plays
