By the end of the season Houston may get a few looks and maybe a few votes to put them in line with some 2 loss P5 teams.

To sneak in they'd need for everybody in the top 5 to lose two games.

Not really. You asked if Houston could still make the playoffs. As it is now, they need some help just to make the the NY6 Bowl. The premise of Houston making the playoff was based on going undefeated with two wins over potential conference champions. Now at best, if they win out, their two good OOC wins will be against two loss teams, and that is not even guaranteed at this point, they would have a loss, and might not even win their conference, even if they win out.

With rounding, at this point they statistically likely have a 0% chance of going to the playoffs. I'd say their chances of even going to a NY6 bowl are probably no more than 20%.

Tulsa, Navy, Memphis, USF, OU and Louisville could all finish ranked, half of them in the top 15 and 2 of them as conference champs. It's unlikely but not impossible. Still plenty of football left.

And for a change, I'm being a homer.

Note when I say "with rounding, at this point they statistically likely have a 0% chance of going to the playoffs," that simply means less than 0.5%, not zero as in "impossible."

I didn't say probable, just that there's a chance and not in a Dumb & Dumber type way.
