Quote:If Houston wins the AAC they will get a NYD 6 bowl game, no matter what WMU does.
They'll need Navy to lose 2 AAC games to even go to the AAC Championship game. But also, an undefeated Boise State would get picked over Houston, especially a 2L Houston winning the AAC (Louisville game later this season). An undefeated WMU team would get picked over a 2L Houston team.

Yeah, they're the G5 Notre Dame, and the MWC to them is like the ACC to Notre Dame. BYU is a tough team, all their losses by a sliver against tough teams.
Boise does have to go thru them + Air Force. And of course, for WMU, and everyone else like Boise, Houston, etc -- non-big games still add up to a lot overall. We're only half-way thru the regular season, and less than halfway until bowl time.

Still a relevant game. No, it doesn't impact Boise from being MWC champs, but it will impact their ranking relative to the other G5 champs, so it is in their best interest to win to control their own destiny for the access spot.

Yes I was referring to Boise having a chance to go undefeated.
BYU could school Boise.

RE: Week 6 thoughts
I'm not writing Houston off yet. They'll need some help, but if they beat Louisville and win out, I still see a one-loss AAC champ Houston getting the bid over either an unbeaten Boise or an unbeaten WMU. Houston would have two extremely high non-conference wins that neither Boise nor WMU could match.
If Houston loses twice, an unbeaten Boise probably gets the nod over an unbeaten WMU. Having a current 10-spot-or-so advantage in the polls helps Boise going forward, and Boise's past performance and long-term program strength would play a role as well.
No question the outlook changes with Houston's loss yesterday, though. Thanks, Navy! WMU needs to continue to take things one game at a time and handle business. One loss to anyone, and none of this discussion matters.

If we are going to look at chances for the G5 what is most important is the standings and what is the best school remaining they have to play according to the computers.
Using last weeks strength #'s at the moment (Updated now some of the computers are ready).
AAC
East: South Florida 5-1 (Memphis #39)
West: Navy 4-1 (South Florida #27)
CUSA
East: MTSU 4-1 (Missouri #63)
West: Southern Miss. 4-2 (LSU #22)
MAC
East: Akron 4-2 (Western Michigan #18)
West: Western Mich 6-0 (Toledo #40)
MWC
Mountain: Boise State 5-0 (BYU #42)
Pacific: SDSU 4-1 (Wyoming #62)
SBC
Troy 4-2 (Appalachian St #47)
Appalachian State 3-2 (Troy #37)
Then take the favorites in a title game among that group.
MWC: Boise State 5-0 (BYU #42)
MAC: Western Mich 6-0 (Toledo #40)
AAC: South Florida 5-1 (Memphis #39)
CUSA: MTSU 4-1 (Missouri #63)
SBC: Troy 4-2 (Appalachian St #47)
Boise is #12 this week in the computers ahead of WMU who is #18. Boise State does have to play BYU, AFA and SDSU in the MWC title game potentially while WMU only has to play Toledo and the MAC East champion in Detroit. Its an easier road for WMU to go undefeated and the west is strong enough that it should help float up the computer polls.
At the moment Houston is out because they do not control their own destiny. Navy lost to Air Force and is more than capable of losing 2 AAC games with Memphis and South Florida in back to back weeks.
