RE: Troy vs Georgia State Discussion Thread
Defensively, GSU has the ability to make this a game. Other than Clemson, this may be the toughest defense Troy has seen. When Troy gets out of a rhythm, it's very tough to get it back. GSU poses a serious threat in that regard.

GSU's defense is very similar to ours in that it's predicated on deception and confusing the quarterback with what I think is called a "rover". One or two guys up front constantly switching positions before the ball is snapped. If Troy's not ready for it, it could be a tough night.

I do think our defense will keep the score down though. Texas State has the worst defense in the country, so playing what is clearly the SBC's best defense and one of the best in the nation at Troy will be a big challenge for state.

One other major difference from last week to this week is the difference at the line of scrimmage. Troy's given up a league and national best 1 sack all year, where Texas State has already given up 20. We have the league's best rushing offense, more than doubling Texas State's production.

All in all, I don't think Troy beats the spread. This will be a tough hard fought game, but I think Troy pulls out a close one.

You know...your defense won't standup under Chunn and Co. If this game was played in the ATL, it might be closer, but at home, it'll probably get ugly. It is what it is...

I expect Troy to roll, they are the best team in the conference. Gast has a tendency to play the top teams close though.

Either we have an offense, and since we typically play better on the road than at home(Look at every close stAte or ULL game we have had. It has been in their barn)... we win by 10 or lose by 7. Or... we don't have an offense, and I am thinking 42 - 10.

It is Tuesday. A lot of alcohol to be consumed... uh contemplation before game time.

Their dismantling of Texas State has me worried, no doubt. They got some serious confidence vs the worst defense in the nation, but confidence is a funny thing. They'll be playing a much better squad this week in Troy, but their belief they can win will keep this game close. I don't think we'll lose, but it should be closer than the prognosticators think.

I didnt say I didnt understand your concern. Hence the concerned baby.

Wea are 14th in Passing Yards Allowed, 13th in Team Passing Efficiency Defense and 22nd in Red Zone Defense. Also tied for 1st in the nation in Red Zone Offense. I would be mildly concerned.

More stats for y'all, since you like 'em. The difference will be the home-field advantage...if you come to the Vet this season, it'll be a problem. NB has this squad locked in at home. Sorry...

I am certainly concerned, as I said in my previous post. I'm worried about your defense, not your offense. Several of those red zone touchdowns you got last week and their defense is really bad. Getting to the redzone could be tough this weekend. Until you played the worst defense in in the country, you guys were worst in country in four major offensive categories, including offensive yards per play, scoring offense, and total offense.

Defensively, we are 1st in interceptions per game, 3rd in passes defended per game, 16th in pass efficiency defense, 23rd in rushing defense, 24th in scoring defense, 25th in tackle for loss per game, vs what is still likely the worst offense in the country. When the worst offense played the worst defense last week, something had to give. I like our defense vs you guys offense.

You are first in the country in red zone offense (honestly that is really cool) and we are 3rd in red zone defense. Something will have to give, and I hope it's not us. That said, I do think you will struggle most of the night getting to the red zone as we are 10th in 3rd down conversion defense.

I am fairly concerned. If you come to the game be sure to stop by and have a beer or two. 04-cheers

TROY 38
GAST 17

Early issues but we pull away in the 3rd.

I will say that I do have a slight concern of coming out flat. However, in HCNB and staff I trust...they will have TROY ready.

On paper should be a good game. However my op has not changed depends on which QB shows up plus the running game.
