I have to think that if they do expand and add new teams, it will not be for 2017 since we are now less than a year away from that season starting. Seems like 2018 is more feasible.

There's still time for 2017. But not much.

I think if they don't do it on or around Oct. 17, then it won't happen for 2017. OTOH, they have already pushed any candidate teams into a time frame less than a year, so the exit fee won't be impacted any more than it already is.

But they have to announce the 2017 schedule before long. That usually happens in October or November, IIRC.

Yep. That's me. Odd man out.

Let me put it this way. I'm still convinced they add two, for sure, and I think there is a decent chance they add 4, although I think THAT is what they have been struggling with, which prompted the dog and pony show. BYU threw a wrench in their plans. And before that, so did the Texas governor.

But I have no confidence in their timing. They have been diddling with expansion much longer than just July, contrary to popular opinion. Heck, they have been public about it since July of 2015.

I don't think ANYBODY is going to guarantee they will expand at all. I'm not. They are dysfunctional to the max when making decisions. But I don't see how they go through all this garbage and do nothing, and leave $400M or $800M on the table.

If you read the article associated with that tweet, Leath explains that he feels it is less likely b/c he thinks OU has moved farther away from expansion, but he also said he wouldn't really know until all 10 presidents got together in one room on the 17th.

Reminds me of the OU AD saying expansion was dead, just before the presidents voted unanimously to move forward. Boren has not publicly declared one way or the other, and he said that last week when Mandel reported Boren had reversed his stance. They aren't going to say jack until after that meeting, one way or the other.

All tweets, articles, blogs, etc on Big 12 expansion are dead to me.

The Iowa St president just said he doesn't know how it's going to go down until all 10 get in a room.

It's 50/50. Some prez could rally them either way. Anyone claiming otherwise is not a prez and thus had a useless "prevailing" opinion.
