One thing to remember: Houston can still make the NY6 even if they aren't the automatic G5 representative and they aren't in the playoffs. There is one "at large" opening that is possibly available to a G5 in this year's NY6, the spot opposite the automatic G5 rep in the Cotton Bowl. That spot will go to the highest-ranked team that isn't already positioned in the playoffs or a Contract bowl. If Houston climbs back up to say #9 or so, they could very well be that highest-ranked team, and thus would play in the Cotton Bowl.

Ironically, against the official G5 Access representative. And at 11-1 Houston might climb that high.

G5 Top 5 NY6 rankings:

1. Boise St.
2. Navy (will likely have to defeat a better opponent in AAC champ game than WMU, and has already beaten #6 UH)
3. Western Michigan
4. USF
5. Houston (needs Navy to lose twice).

The "Navy rule" may go into effect this year. I believe the committee has decided that if Navy is the AAC champ, they will wait until after the Army-Navy game to announce the G5 Access bid. It'll be interesting if that happens.

That would be crazy if after all the off season talk about the Army Navy game ^ happens. "Navy will never be the AAC champion, so we'll never have to worry about this scenario."----maybe that will indeed be the situation going into the Army/Navy game. Army isn't that bad this year either despite the Buffalo and Duke and one other loss.
Cheers!

FYI: There is no one other loss... just those two.. losing by 3 and 7 pts. They're 3-2 right now.

At this rate, they should have 3+ more wins coming up, especially since almost all are at home (games in order of lesser degree of difficulty):
- Lafayette (FCS) [1-5]
- Morgan State (FCS) [2-2]
- North Texas [3-3]
- Notre Dame [2-4]
- Air Force [4-1]
- @Wake Forest [5-1]
- Navy [4-1]

Although with two FCS teams, Army won't be bowl eligible with 6W unless they start looking for 5-7 teams like last year.
