RE: Houston to Big 12 ?
Academics matters in possibly two ways to the Big 12 for this round of expansion:

- it's a floor: a school has to have a minimum amount of academic reputation to be considered (see Memphis and Boise)
- it could be a tie-breaker, if all else is equal

I checked the UC board meetings from previous years. They always seem to have a board meeting around the middle of October every year.

As does every publicly traded company in the world. I have to present at my board meeting in 2 weeks. It is the end of Q3.

Why people think that this means UH is getting into the B12 is beyond me... It is a reach.

Wait a minute. People get sidetracked easily. The issue with Houston is that they requested permission for the chairman and chancellor to negotiate and execute contracts on the behalf of the board, before their next board meeting in December, or whenever.

Has nothing to do with just holding a board meeting. And if it pertains to a possible renegotiation with Herman, it is worded completely differently than the same pone last year.

And I'm not saying it even means anything, just keeping straight what the issue was, to begin with. A request for contract authority, NOT a board meeting.

In the case od UC, I agree. Just a board meeting. Means nothing.

99.9% of the people think it has to do with the B12 but isn't an indication of an invitation.

It is simply a means of being able to move quickly should the need arise before our next meeting in December.

Anything more than that is someone pushing an agenda.

The wording in that report is pretty darn strong in leading people to believe it has to do with conference affiliation. No agenda pushing is needed to come to that conclusion.

"to negotiate various contract matters on behalf of the University of Houston in the Division of Athletics as such may be necessary prior to the next regularly scheduled Board of Regents meeting"

The agenda is that "we have" and invite in hand.

As much as I would love that to be true logic says it's simply a means to accept and move fast when (or if) an invite comes.
