As soon as there is a coaching change, some kid who signed early will "sue" to get out of his commitment. Some scandals will occur and an early commitment will "petition" to get out of his obligation.

Found this interesting as well

Quote:An additional assistant coach is also being proposed by the council. Teams are currently limited to having nine assistant coaches. The new proposal would grant a 10th assistant.

I do wonder how schools would use that extra assistant...I could see them using it as a Player Personal Guy-(schools already have them)...but would have the flexibility to increase their salaries...

Hard to say due to the fact that every team's staff is structured different. I would hope that Clemson would use that position to hire a dedicated special teams coordinator instead of making it an additional duties position. Some programs may decide to have a cornerbacks coach and a safeties coach. I guess it would depend on the priority of the head coach.

It's unbelievable how tight schools have been about opening up its purse to even consider compensating student athletes. What, the changes that prompted this haven't been around for a year or two, and now schools have budget space for additional coaches?

But still ***** about the crippling effects of Title IX?

Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable.

Seems obvious to me: make the coordinators a full-time, exclusive position, like they are in the NFL. Perhaps with each coordinator having some split duties of an assistant head coach, as well.

Then position coaches focus on coaching their position group.

As far as an early signing period goes: no brainer. Works for every other sport.

This is what I'm saying for full time jobs with 10 assistants:

HC

O Coord (1)
D Coord (2)

QB (3)
RB (4)
OL (5)
WR (6)
TE/FB (7)

DL (8)
LB (9)
DB (10)

Grad assistants help boost coach numbers on D.
