I know they fit perfect geographically and all. But go after Kansas and Kansas State before WVU please...

I liked playing WVU. They were easy to hate.

I wouldnt mind WV in the ACC. Im in the minority here, I know. But they would be a good add, for fb and bb. I would just never visit there for any game.

I would have to agree..........as much as it HURT to say that.03-puke west vu would absolutely sell out our games just due to pure hatred. But i don't really like that emotion that much.05-nono

West Virginia used to be a great rivalry, very good college football program, etc. Not sure those days aren't over, however...

I'm thinking of the changed demographics of the state population itself.
Furthermore, if we're being honest, the only way WVU is able to field a really good team is to poach recruits from other states - there isn't much talent in WV. That said, if the 'Eers were in the ACC, they'd take talent away from Pitt, UVA, VT, and the state of Florida (which feeds many ACC teams). Little to no net benefit to the league, IMO, since recruiting is by definition a zero-sum game.

These kids are all getting full rides, so in-state is overrated. In-area matters a lot more. WVU is very close to western PA, and not too far from VA and OH.

They can still be good. Sure it's close to zero sum from a recruiting perspective. It's gold from a rivalry perspective.

I believe WV already gets a lot of talent from those areas and Florida and always has. I dont think being in the B12 has changed that substantially in the short time they have been there. But I could be wrong as I am going by perception.

Yes, the last thing a conference where the majority of it's member schools have the well-deserved reputation of being lukewarm at best football fans needs is a school with passionate fanbase that travels. There is no way that our bowl partners or football first schools want anything like that.

Maybe it was just us that got batteries thrown on them, had to walk a gaunlet back to our cars. Maybe they just hated us more than normal opposing fans.

You'd take Maryland back in a skinny minute wouldn't you?
Same thing happens there.

From many friends over the years I suggest if you go to NC State games that you take anything Louisville related off your vehicle if you don't want it keyed and/or the antenna broken.

At UVA one time when they had their run of "success" in the 1990's a group of frat boys tried to pick a fight with us. Had to laugh when my 6'6" 275lb friend said "What are you going to do? Throw wine corks at his? Go on before you need to use that bowtie as a tourniquet."

That kind of stuff happens everywhere, and I feel sure that if you look long enough you'll find somebody that says it about Louisville.

Don't forget the cups full of pee thrown at you or dumped on your head. It's really lovely when they spit on your kids to.

Just an FYI I graduated from UMD. And their fans are pretty horrible. It got to where the national guard had to be at just about every home game, including women's games, and burning trash cans become the norm. But they still are a walk in the park compared to WVU fans. And it isn't even close. I have never, seen a fanbase as universally despised as West Virginia fans, , that didn't also have the titles to justify it. The only ones I ever see who are even in the conversation, Alabama and ND football fans, Kentucky and Duke basketball fans, are not near as bad, and in their cases, it's more the volume of the fans combined with lunacy, than with WVU where it is the lunacy despite the smaller volume.
