Remainder of the season: Who are your expectations?
For Southern Miss, I am a little disappointed in the play of our offense after 4 games. The Golden Eagles are currently one of the worst teams in the nation in turning the ball over, and very inconsistent offensively. I am hopeful that Mullens and his new WRs will gel more and more as the season goes, and that our inexperienced OTs will continue to get better. If these things get corrected, we will be tough to beat the rest of the way. If not, we will probably lose 3 or 4 more games.

Defensively, we lost a starting DT (our biggest DT) to injury just before the season began. Hopefully, he will be back in a few more weeks. That will be a big boost to the depth on the interior DL. The team speed on the defense is getting close to being what we are accustomed to at Southern Miss. Other than the 1st half of the KY game, the defense has been very solid.

Special teams have been good other than the Troy game. I hope that was just the weather.

We will be physically outmatched at LSU, and have toss up games vs Marshall and La Tech at home. All road games (ODU, UNT, UTSA) can be difficult, but the Golden Eagles should win those if they play well. I expect to beat Rice this weekend, but very well remember one of Bower's last teams losing to an 0-4 Rice squad in a miserable midweek game. We should also beat Charlotte at The Rock.

When all is said and done, I am expecting 9-3, while holding out hope for 10-2 or better, and would not be shocked with 8-4.

After what I witnessed last Saturday, every game going forward is a "toss up" game for LA Tech. I will hope for the best.

Very disappointed in UTEP's season so far. Nice win to start the season followed by disappointing showing at Texas and horror show of a game vs Army.

I expect UTEP to have a new coach next season. Prior to this season our coach was quoted as saying this should be a good year. Phil Steele said UTEP should be one of the most improved teams in the country. Wilder at ODU and Holtz at LT both said UTEP would be a team to watch. All of that has turned out to be BS.

I expect the Monarchs to finish with seven wins. If we get eight, I am ecstatic. If we get six and a bowl bid, I am satisfied. Anything less is unacceptable.

I expected 2-2, but I also expected that the 2 on the right side of the hyphen would be the result of closer, spirited losses and not ass-whippings.

For the season: Expect 6-6, hope for 7-5, dream about 8-4, would be unsurprised at 5-7 and wouldn't be completely knocked on my arse at 4-8.

At 3-1, I think we're about where the average expectation would have been purely from a record standpoint. Disappointed in that the opportunity to be 4-0 was there, and we played one of the worst games of football I've ever seen MT play in the game against Vandy. But, we are still in the driver's seat in the East and have an opportunity to host WKU at 4-1, 2-0 on homecoming if we can play a sharp game against North Texas.

UTEP is my biggest disappointment in CUSA so far. Still hopeful that they can get it turned around. The good news is that there are still a lot of possible Ws on the schedule.

I think we'll beat Prairie View A&M.

Other than that, who knows. I guess our best chances for division wins are UTEP and UTSA, but both have looked better than us, generally speaking.

Charlotte will be a pillow fight.

Expectation: ODU to finish the season at 6-6

Prediction: ODU will lead the country in fourth down attempts AND lead the country in 2 point conversion attempts. Both of these are due to deplorable field goal kicking.

Southern Miss fans have experienced this in the past 10 years. It is very frustrating to see other teams seem to kick field goals and extra points with ease, and then watch your team struggle to do the same. Lack of a field goal kicker can make it that much tougher on the coach. The good side is that converting some of those 4th downs can mean 6 points instead of a possible 3.

I expect us to finish the season 8-4 as a ceiling, 6-6 expected, 5-7 worst.

You are correct that Hrappman was great. I didn't mean that we had that problem each of the past 10 years, but moreso on occasion in the past 10 years. Do you remember that year with Fedora where we struggled to make extra points? I think we even had 2 blocked and returned for 2 points by the opponent (ECU and Houston?). Also had a year under Monken where we couldn't make field goals and extra points were a struggle.

We have had some good years, but we also had some years where "the struggle is real" would have been an accurate statement.

WKU still has a chance to finish not any worse than last year. That's my hope, but it's not likely unless key players return from injuries soon and the turnover bug is healed.

I could see every remaining regular season game being a win, but at the same time, Louisiana Tech, MTSU, and Marshall on the road are all going to be tough. I definitely don't see another home loss (Houston Baptist, ODU, FIU, UNT).

It was my hope that this was the year WKU breaks the "shoulda won against this mediocre P5 team" curse. Illinois in 2014, Indiana in 2015, and Vandy in 2016. The games always go the same. WKU seems to be in control and then it slips away at the end.

RE: Remainder of the season: Who are your expectations?
Depends on if we get guys back healthy and stop making dumb penalties and turning the ball over left and right...Crazy vs. Bama in that atmosphere we almost had zero penalties....Last two weeks you can really see the lack of focus, almost like our guys were so locked in vs. Bama they have completely lost it these last two weeks.....October 6th will tell us a lot where we stand for the CUSA title, in the meantime this looks like a 7-5 type season if the injuries continue to mount...

Just from what I have seen, we will be relying on our ground game with occasional passes to soften up the defense hopefully... If our receivers can catch the passes. Really missing Our top two receivers from last year. We should win between 8 to ten games in regular season.

I'd day 6-6 to 8-4. Just depends on how well we develop at certain positions and if we stay healthy. Pitt, USM, MT and WKU will all be very tough games to win. We could win every game left or we could easily lose every game left.

Really would like to see at least 6 wins at the end of the season. 7 would be even better!

I'll definitely be disappointed if we have 5 or less wins.

We have a real shot of going 11-1. I think we match up fairly well with Mizzou and could come out of Columbia with a victory. And we will be at least even in every conference game this year if not favored. I would say 9-3 would be expected given our schedule. Toughest games left are WKU, Missouri, and Marshall and we should win at least one of those three. The rest of our opponents are crappy crappy - UNT, FIU, UTSA, Charlotte, and FAU. Really no excuse to lose any of those games.
