Past 4 years our biggest wins are Houston at PBS where the fired their coach before the post game, ECU at ECU that got their coach fired, 2 yooge wins against Purdon't and a win against Miami, another team that canned their coach soon thereafter.
That '08 stretch where we hosted USF on Thursday night, went to WVU, went to Louisville then hosted Pitt to clinch the conference was the greatest stretch I can remember as a fan of any team in any sport. Those were 4 big time games, in 4 weeks. I was at all of them and after each win you could just feel the build of Bearcat fans realizing we could (and finally did win the conference). The USF game we controlled, the WVU game was the same, but somehow let it slip. WVU forcing OT was one of the most improbable things I've ever seen. But UC made huge plays in OT and the UC fans rejoiced. After the Louisville game (where it poured the entire time but I'd say 6-8000 UC fans made the trip) almost every UC fan stayed in the concourses chanting down the drive for like 20 minutes. It was so cool. Then everyone remembers Pitt on that brutally cold night at Nippert. That 4 game stretch had more than any four games of the Tuberville era.

Sadly, nobody ever gives us credit for any of our Big East wins. This is true of both within our fan base and on the outside. It is a shame because some of those WVU, Pitt and USF teams were very damn good--- better than Oregon State 2007 and 2009; NC State 2011.

You're forgetting where that "3-0 U of Miami" team eventually fired their coach just a couple of weeks later.
Yes. That Miami win has been the biggest win for the team since Coach Tuberville took over. As to how "big" that win is...well, that's up for debate.
So what? What bigger OOC wins can you point to in the Dantonio/Kelly/Jones era? Oregon St? V-Tech? They were the highest ranked teams Cincy beat OOC with them, and like Miami they were each just receiving votes in the AP. Hell, the year Jones beat v-tech he lost to Toledo.
The only ranked teams any of them ever beat were in the Big East. And outside of Houston, Cincy just hasn't played one in the AAC since then. It's simply a bogus argument.
For the record none of the coaches in recent memory have 'big wins' OOC. You are right...Dantonio, BK, Jones, Tubs...none of them.
Dantonio and BK had HUGE Big East conference wins (#9 Rutgers, #14Pitt x2, multiple other Big East teams that were ranked at the time etc.) but nobody on this list has went out and beat a ranked Oklahoma, Ohio State or whatever.
I guess Minter is the last coach we had that had big OOC wins hahahahaha. Hilarious!
Bring back Minter!!! LOL
I think our 2009 win on the road against #24 Oregon State has to count as a big OOC win. OSU ended up ranked in the polls as the end of the season and the HC went on to Nebraska the following year.
Actually OSU didn't end up in the polls. They ended up recieving votes. And exactly like Miami Fl, they ended the season 8-5 and with a blow out Bowl loss to BYU.

I was all 4 as well. Only games I did not attend in person that year was at Hawaii.
I still have some great photos of you and I from the Marshall game.

Fully agree. Used to piss me off too. Especially since the BE teams (sans UC and UConn) won every BCS bowl they played. Against some major blue bloods too. Of course Cincy didn't beat those BE teams those years either or UC would have got the bid. Also, these same BE teams that moved to P5 sure didn't do the BE any favors the way they've all floundered since their move to a p5. Only UL (a CUSA team) has done well in the P5. The rest have basically capped themselves as 7-6 teams or worse.

Had UC pulled it out against temple and not got the Memphis game stolen from them, that Miami Fl game would have loomed MUCH larger in our memory banks.

It's not that it doesn't count. It's that our performances against USF and SD State last year count as well.

That's fine. I agree. I just thought the discussion was whether CTT had any big wins here.

I don't know what you mean by "prior years", but I do think this board tends to misremember the Jones and Dantonio eras and how they stack up to CTT. You would think this program was bagging top 10 wins every week the way people talk about them, but really it's been about the same for 13 years minus the Kelly era.

You have a serious reading comprehension problem. My point w3as the Miami win was a good as any other OOC win UC had during the glory years. And the facts prove it. You simply cant handle being proven wrong as im consistantly able to do with you.

RE: Prediction Thread: UC vs. USF
Yea well UC basically back doored their way into the final AP poll in 2011 and 2012 with those two huge P5 Bowl wins. You remember, those 6-7 Vanderbilt and 6-7 Dook wins? No doubt, in your mind, two huge wins for UC in magnitude surpassing that win over Miami. Dook, a team who had never won a bowl game and UC needed a miracle finish to win. Two wins over the historical dregs of the ACC and SEC got UC to 10-3 and into the Top 25. On the other hand, TT lost to real P5 programs North Carolina and V-Tech to fall to 9-4 and out of the polls. And for THIS you hate the guy and he must be canned cause he SUCKS!
And you hate being called out for what your rationalization is...bogus.

2011 and 12 we were slightly better than 13-16, 2010 we were worse. Dantonio's were about the same. In the good years, we were in the 20s range, in other years we were in the 30s range. I'm sticking with "about the same".
Nobody on this board will ever dispute the Kelly years, certainly not me.
