That is what is key. Need someone in your business school to quantify it. Its why the city of Atlanta pays attention to GSU and the city of Birmingham pays attention to UAB.

According to this link, the university's impact is about $2 billion.

For a city the size of Norfolk? The city should be doing burnt offerings to you.

It's still peanuts to the Navy's impact.
Their impact is still less than $10B

You should not discount yourself that easily

Conference realignment is killing me.

I hate the CAA but I understand the Sunbelt, CUSA and MAC weaknesses.

Here is to hoping for a G5 shakeup with tighter lines.

We haven't finished better than 4th in what, exactly?
Show me when we were the 2 seed.

Airport meeting is the only hope

Don't confuse him with facts... some people just like to complain...

The fact is we have never been a top two seed. We have not made the NCAA tournament in over half a decade. And this year doesn't look like the year that changes. Not negative, just disappointed in our basketball program and frustrated with the portion of our fan base that has settled into accepting mediocrity as though merely snatching a few wins from powerhouses like MTSU (poor choice, we have NEVER beaten them) and WKU equals success.

I will give you the fact we haven't been to NCAA in 5/6 years. But 70-39 during Jones' tenure is not too shabby. NIT semifinal and seconds away from making the tournament last year.

RE: How have we fallen so far behind?
You can hang your hat on an inflated record that includes a bunch of post season wins against crappy teams, but the questions remain...when will we make the tournament? When will we win the terrible CUSA? When will we win a game in the NCAA tournament?

This is from memory, but I think this is how the seasons have played out.
2013-14; 6th seed, lost in quarters to MT. CIT semis.
2014-15; 3rd, lost in quarters to MT. NIT semis.
2015-16; 5th, lost in finals to MT. Vegas16 Champs.
