Memphis was.. is... and always will be an "event" town. I doubt we have a bigger crowd than the opener unless Houston comes in here unbeaten

RE: I assume everyone complaining about attendance
I posted in another thread. After I got home from the Kansas game I watched it again (taped it). The only thing that concerns me is the empty chair backs on the visitors side of the field. Looks like no one's at the game other than a few 100 people. Something really needs to be done about this. Not only is it an awful look while in the stadium but an even worse look for TV. Makes us look small time and invites questioning of the actual attendance.

Would be great to move the primary cameras to the west side but I imagine the sun is a real problem with that idea. And the sun makes the east side brutal for day games. I had season tickets there for several years & virtually never sat in those otherwise good seats due to the sun & heat. Like the west side much better & the crowd always looks pretty good viewing from the east.

Maybe. I should have said in September and October. If you look at what we have done historically, night games draw better than day days during those months.

It usually doesn't matter much by November.

Attendance is pretty much fine, so are tickets sold, etc.

If Ole Miss had our schedule & money, they would be a 15K program - and that could be said for most of the SEC. If Memphis scheduled competitive P5 programs OOC, Memphis could lead the country in the G5 attendance, which BTW is better than approx 20% of the P5 programs. Memphis had the 3rd best G5 attendance in the country last year (that includes BYU). Quit complaining about attendance & attend the games - and if you're going to complain, do so to the AD to schedule better OOC in both FB & BB.

Wow someone makes sense.
I agree complaining on the radio and on message boards do you no good. Like complaining about people leaving when we are winning maybe they have somewhere else to go at that time.

Should not have jacked up the price and let the "preferred folks buy out the loyal fans."
I was not going to sit on the visitor side no matter how soft it kept my butt. I was moved out of my spot intentionally. It really pissed me off! But I got one in another section on the Tiger Side.

I'm confused by that too. Did people not renew those seats due to higher seatback prices or what? I don't recall there being that many empty spots last year but maybe I'm just misremembering?

I'm guessing some don't want to sit in the sun. Let's see what happens with a night game

It could be those people couldn't afford the bump in price

My fear is that you are right about the financial ends being more heavily prioritized, in the future.

However, if you are correct, the mandate will NOT be to try to schedule "better" home games. The mandate will be to schedule more "buy" games, where we go to Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, et al, to collect a big paycheck. Much more money to be made in being a sacrificial lamb, than a few more seats filled for a couple of home games...

We should've been doing that for years anyway.

Play a DIAA as an opener every year.
Play an SEC team home and home.
Play a mid-level "name" team home and home (Bowling Green, Fresno State, Northern Illinois, etc.)
Play one biggee on the road every 2-3 years.

In the mid-60s (yes, ancient history) FSU gained respect, success & status for their program that was at the same level as our program at the time - but you have to win, and have the tools to win, with a similar scheduling strategy.
