Again you don't have any kind of basis for your determination. It's not football strength. It's certainly not basketball or baseball or women's basketball strength. It's not fan support. It's not athletic budgets.

You keep saying football drives the bus but if that were true USM would be in the AAC or possibly a P5. You guys are obviously lacking in other areas.

Hey smart guy----I have about heard enough crap-talking from USM. Do you honestly think you guys would be any better in year 2 of FBS football or year 4 of football at all? If not, then just shut up (at least about Charlotte). Charlotte will be fine.

BTW, someone should tell the media and TV people about how no one cares about basketball because they sure have wasted a lot of money on the Big East and A10. I understand how USM and Marshall don't seem to care about basketball though---since you've never really been worth a damn at it, but some schools do care about it. Maybe y'all should take your basketball to the SWAC.

Will your children and wife be safe around you?

Look here, I root for a Charlotte, ODU, and UTSA in OCG. I'm hoping for you all to win..but it's still going to take you all about 10-15 years to get any kinda foundation built to compete on a consistent level. How are we going to get any respect at all as a FOOTBALL conference if half of our league are with the likes of UNT, FIU, FAU...then throw in the newcomers in football period like ODU, Charlotte, and UTSA ?

A conference is based on its strength, and we have not got it because of its perception. About half our league is very weak, especially with the 3 start-up programs. That's one reason why CUSA ranks dead last among conferences in FOOTBALL. It's right in front of you. We aren't going to get anywhere as a conference like this.

I don't care what you might say..but History, Tradition, and Rivalries are way more important than market size, or how many TV sets are in your area, or even something as stupid as how many APPLE stores are in your area...in a conference, as one poster tried to say. Fans from ODU, Charlotte, or UTSA might not understand this because in football you all have no rivals yet...you are new to this College football thing. No, you didn't get my point. Market size is important to conferences the same way they're important to a giant company like Apple. They both want large consumer bases.

Conferences looking for expansion candidates will never remove market size from their criteria the way some say CUSA should have done. When conference realignment happens again, I'll guarantee you that Judy MacLeod will be looking at that Atlanta market no matter how good or bad the product is at the moment.

If she does again, then she is an even bigger fool then most people could possibly realize......Brand and play on the field has proven to trump markets tenfold, what more evidence could you possibly want these last few years? Market bubble has popped similarly to the housing bubble that popped a few years ago.....WKU was an add to offset markets even 2 or 3 years ago, no way they add based on markets again...

Markets has proven to be what most people said it would be, a disaster....I will admit I was shaking my head too when CUSA started plucking bad programs from the Sun Belt...FIU, UNT and FAU were really the last straw for me on how dumb that decision was and how incompetent.....Thank god for small market teams like WKU, La. TEch or this conference would really be a disaster in at least football...

A conference that needs to expand has to have something measurable. Some fans like to claim that their team's brand or popularity trumps its small market. Claiming that one's brand extends outside its market is very hard to prove unless you're the Dallas Cowboys or Notre Dame. Charlotte has a potential viewing audience of over a million. That's measurable. WKU is doing well at the moment, but conferences know programs will have their ups and downs. So when a team is doing poorly or in a rebuilding year, they prefer that team be in a large market. When CUSA needs to expand, it will look to large market teams like Arkansas-Little Rock and Georgia State before it looks at App State or G-South.

First of all Mr ODUsmitty....All of us get our panties in a wad and frustrated over this or that..whether it be threads, post, or comments....but there is no need in using our Lord's name in vain!!

Secondly, you are a great addition to CUSA basketball. You have a wonderfully respected BBall program with your Top 25 midseason ranking and NIT semifinals. No one says any different. But this is football season and we are discussing us as a football conference. Basketball you deserve to be in CUSA or possibly better than CUSA...so settle down.
