So why would Charlotte back down if there is no guarantee that will end this silliness

Maybe but if hb2 comes back or never goes away then there is no financial gain

There is an immediate gain - the ACC football championship game in Charlotte.

The Mayor has already said it will not be on the agenda for tonight's meeting.

Not surprising coming from "Man hands."

solo,

So call him insane. Christianity at least still does teach a decent set of morals. Churches are usually good communities. They have that going for them.

erics,

Even if that was true, a significant portion of the world's (and the country's) population is not Christian. So you can't pretend that Christians are better than everyone else. This isn't a Christian country (and it shouldn't be). If anything, we need more people in power who don't come from Christian backgrounds (in addition to needing more women, people of color, and gays in power).

There is no "if" to it. Facts are facts.

And I never commented on who was better or what most people "believe" in. That has nothing to do with what I posted.

Ok, good.

As long as you're agreeing that Christians are only the same importance as Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Atheists, etc., then I'm fine with you believing in Jesus. That's your right!

Depends on how you define "importance".

You are talking about how man or the world defines things, I am talking about how God defines things.

Christianity is the ONLY religion on earth you do not have to accept just on BLIND FAITH.

The OT proves and illustrates God is real and Jesus is who He said He was through the OT prophets. No other book in existence can make such a claim, no other religion can make such a claim. All the rest are based solely on blind faith.

I'm talking about man's public existence on earth and man's rules on earth.

Religion has no place in shaping those. In private, you may believe whatever you will believe, with conviction.

I absolutely disagree with that.

Throughout history religion has shaped culture and purpose of society. You can argue that a bad thing but I would disagree on that too

You were also trying to suggest all religions are just blind belief systems, and was I pointing out that you are factually wrong and you can look it up for yourself and learn some truth.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the OT proves this.

solo,

That might work when the society is entirely the same belief.

Doesn't work today. Muslims' beliefs need to be held in just as high of regard in the United States as Christians, Jews, Atheists, etc.

You have lost your bloody mind.

"And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah is worse than killing... but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnahand worship is for Allah alone. But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun." Quran (2:191-193)

Ah, that must be why every Muslim in the country today has killed at least one American in his/her lifetime.

Some of the principle teachings in their religion are in direct contradiction with commonly held world-wide moral standards.

Ask the female population of the Middle East about those 'deranged fantasies'. Maybe the staff at Charlie Hebdo or those in Paris or Nice. If you want to check a little closer to home, try those in the mall in MN.
