Is now a good time bringing the bond issue back to the city? Fairly found guilty on three fed charges and Dupree backside not real comfortable. Could this be time for Southern Miss to revisit and try to push through. Uncertain how much fight Dupree will have if Southern Miss strikes now.

For the Yurt to ever have a real shot of being completely renovated the bond is absolutely a must.

Facility upgrades will be our driver to an improved conference. Unfortunately we are late to the game but as you state we must show 'ability to grow'

I still say the Elam Arms location would be a perfect place for the CITY to put a Mitchell Center (South Alabama) type facility. Also has room for parking. USM could DONATE the land.

I disagree....

building an entire new facility makes zero 'cents'

the yurt is just fine externally.....

and the renderings have been out there for awhile now....

it's just a matter of securing the 'ability to fund' portion that is the issue...

Not to hijack the thread, but I thought they were going to build a on campus hotel there and tie it into a degree. Sort of like the one Auburn has by campus.

Did that fall through or am I dreaming that I heard that?

That land has been sold off to the developer already. Hotel Indigo should be coming within the next year to two years. My hope is that this will FINALLY kick off the Midtown project, and that the cronies that were running this city will finally get snuffed out along with Fairley.

Still think an annexation of some of Lamar County is going to be really tough. Even if you get the right mayor/council in place, you'll have the suburbanites pushing hard against it. Most of them want no part of being in Hattiesburg.

How about making Hattiesburg a place where more people want to live and educate their children rather than annexing where they moved?

With how the city has been ran for the past few years, do you really blame them?

oaf grove is a cf of shite in civil planning/engineering.....it's exactly what happens when you just let the masses run a-muck and built 'shite'....
