Basketball season.
Think I am already tired of football, ready for basketball to start. Doubt I am the only one! Was always more oriented toward basketball anyway.

RE: Basketball season.
Ironic coming from someone who roots for a school that has a smaller undergraduate size than numerous Texas high schools, including mine back when I graduated.

Still bitter about 100-6, 73-14 or 82-28 (I call it 75-0 before the dogs got called off)? Tulsa will be lucky to ever be the best team in its own state. You were even awful in the 90's when both OU and OSU were mostly down.

I got this gem from Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston%E2...ll_rivalry

"The Houston–Tulsa football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane and the University of Houston Cougars. Sometime [sic] 03-lmfao this rivalry is called the Battle for the Best City."

I mean if you like Tulsa and more than Houston that's fine but Houston compares itself to Tulsa about as much as New York compares itself to Houston, which is pretety much never.

For me football is just something that happens to fill the time until basketball games start. Always has been. I have never been that much of a fan of any football team to be exact.

You're one to talk... Historically, the basketball program has been far and away the better sport for Cincy when comparing it to football.

I used to like UH basketball but it completely sucks now.

With football, we have a solid program. A growing tailgating culture. A new venue. 7,000 students or more per game. Wild crowds and fun traditions.

With basketball, we get nothing. It's all too depressing. I still buy season tickets but it gets harder and harder to actually attend games. Such a let down.

RE: Basketball season.
I'm more of a football fan than basketball. I love football season and it's just starting to get good.

As far as C2's comparisons of us to OU and OSU, we beat OU in '96 when both our teams were bad so there's that. And as far as things look presently all our state teams are 1 and 1 and we have arguably the best loss out of the 3. Certainly better than OSU's for sure. Are we as good as those teams? Probably not, but I don't think we're that far behind right now.

The UH hoops program is being turned around - and fast - and it would behoove UH fans to get behind it and fill the arena. Sampson is putting a product on the floor that UH can be proud of.

I think UH could shock people and finish top 3 in conference this year.

They're not better than UCONN + Cincy + SMU (unless Jank tanks)

Memphis is probably going to be MUCH improved and Tulsa's new team has promise as well. There's a lot of competition in the league for UH to be top 3.

There have been surprises the last two years. No one thought Temple would win the league last year or that Tulsa would finish second ahead of UConn and Cincinnati the previous year. Housto will probably not be the 3rd best team, but if their schedule is favorable, they could finish in the top 3....07-coffee3

I think SMU minus Nic Moore will go through some growing pains and that Cincy will be a different team without Cobb, Ellis, and Thomas. Tulsa will be talented but very inexperienced. I don't see Tubby turning around Memphis this season...next season though, watch out.

Would I bet on UH to finish top 3? No...but I give them a solid chance to get there.

I think you mean that Temple lost in the conference tournament as a one-seed.
