We always seem to catch UNC in years where they're really good. There are some years where they're mediocre or slightly above in the ACC but we never seem to catch them then. They have some guys on this team who are flat scary.
In both previous matchups with UNC they went on to finish 3-5 in the ACC.
They will finish with a better record this year barring multiple key injuries.
Big, big challenge

I wouldn't necessarily be happy, but that wouldn't be the end of the world, especially if we don't come out with any major injuries. Fact is, we've basically had two preseason games. They've played Georgia. How much can you really expect? Looking to see some positives and hang around for at least the first half. I'm not sure if we're going to get much push up front to get Khalid and Cardon off which could be a problem.

I don't think we're gonna go down there and just lay down and play dead.

UNC 31-23--Coach Houston will know the importance of this game to our fanbase. Plays to win. Opens up the offense. We move the ball but bog down in the red zone. We manage 3 FG's and 2 late TDs when the outcome has already been determined.

or

UNC 38-6--Coach Houston like some of our fans only cares about making the FCS playoffs and continues with the same vanilla offense we've seen the past 2 weeks. Will wait to unleash our offense against the mighty CAA.

Since Coach Houston beat South Carolina last year and knows how a possible victory can energize a fanbase, I'll go with the first pick.

There's always the possibility of an upset, but if its not close at halftime let's hope for no injuries. I wouldn't mind seeing Mitch get more significant second half snaps if it isn't close so we have a better idea of what we have.

This has been a big part of the recipe for UNC against us the past two times. Their O-line manhandling our D-line from a pass blocking perspective. Heck, we made a guy who had never started a game look like an All-American w/ 22-23 passing stats.

The fact that the Dukes have recorded zero sacks in 2 games is a concern. We may have to bring the heat and hope our secondary can hold up.

You guys watching the games I have been? We haven't run any real pressure plays or done anything other than rush 5 guys. No stunts, nothing. I think we've been playing it pretty close to the vest here, guys.

Dirty I don't disagree with you regarding us being pretty vanilla on defense in the first two games, as we should have been. That being said, I haven't seen anything that suggests we have a stud that is going to be able to get penetration on a very strong offensive line. I'm not saying the sky is falling and we are doomed in terms of pass rush for the year, I just don't think the UNC qb's jersey is going to get very dirty.

RE: JMU @ UNC Prediction Thread
It's tough to get the QB's jersey dirty when he gets rid of the ball so quickly. The Holes offense is designed around the quick 3-step drop pitch 'n catch. If he's holding onto the ball more than that, it's probably a screen pass to a back or a bubble screen out to the WRs. They use the short passing game to set up everything else, including the run. Hood only gets about 10-15 touches a game, but he usually makes the most of them.

I hope one of our DBs lowers the boom on that punk-ass Switzer.

I don't think #2 is remotely an option. Houston isn't Mickey. He is definitely playing to win and he's said that many times this week. His comments after the game vs. South Carolina made me like the guy even more. The more time passes the more I think we can win this game. My head still says we lose this game, but we will cover the spread.
If we keep it close at halftime, UNC should be very afraid.

#3 Switzer is probably the fastest player that will be on the field. Very talented and fun to watch. Hope he doesn't feast too much in us.

RE: JMU @ UNC Prediction Thread
Maybe someone else can find this and post it. Last year against Illinois (I think) in Crapel Hell, Switzer scored a touchdown and did one of those celebration moves where you fall backwards so that your teammates catch you. Well, Switzer looked like an idiot because when he fell backwards no body caught him. It's pretty funny. It was one of the #GoACC moments of the year, and one ESPN's not so top ten moments.

4 points short of the actual JMU score... you get the prediction thread 'win'
