Got to wonder if that is the price of success. They've got OOC games to fill and no one wants to go there and take the beat down.

I think is was a couple seasons back they were down to the last minute getting a FCS game lined up. Some of that is of their own making by wanting a late season opponent.

I have to wonder why P5 schools even bother with this system. It's kind of a no-win situation. They pay FCS to come there. If they win, it's a game that barely counts to anyone rating teams. If they lose, it's a disaster. Now, a team like Alabama can schedule those teams because they don't lose to anyone, but teams like UNC, it surprises me. Just look at all the idiots who have scheduled NDSU over the last 4 years as an example.

JMU should be like JSU- 400-600k. 550k from WVU in 2019 is great, 425k from NC State in 2018 is decent, but getting only 300k from ECU next year is crap. Heck, Akron paid 300k back in 2012 (will be closer to 315k in 2017 $$) and Akron only average 9k+ fans the season before (2012)..

How on earth can Akron afford to pay ANYONE 300k if they're pulling 9K fans to a game? If that's the average, you gotta assume our coming to town would be one of the worst attended too.

I had wondered the same thing. Read an article before we played them. It said they had needed another home game and were having problems (probably due to low payout). So they used some of the money they got from playing Michigan, also in 2013, to augment the guarantee.
