Virginia Tech and Pitt on stage next
Here is Virginia Tech's and Pitt's chances to win on the National stage, and prove ACC superiority

Pitt has Penn State, and VT is playing Tennessee

A Hokie win means the ACC would be 3-1 vs. the SEC this year

Pitt's offense looked horrendous last week but Penn State didn't look that great either so it's definitely a winnable game.

I guess it's a step in the right direction that Pitt won by 21 and I'm very disappointed because in the past Pitt has lost those types of games against G5 or FCS programs looking ahead to a bigger matchup.

Pitt will be favored, but VT will not. Still, after seeing what App State did I have hope...

Hoping for 2-0 here and it's possible, but honestly a split here would be great.

Dunno if you can gather much from that. For much of the first half last year App State made Clemson's offense look pedestrian. It finally took them making a couple mistakes on offense putting us in great position, starting with a Carlos Watkins pick six from inside the 10 yard line, before we were able to put them away. App State might be a Sun Belt team but they are well coached and have a pretty good track record of taking good athletes that might not have the measurables for other teams and putting them in schemes that help them win. They were the only FBS team to offer Hunter Renfrow a scholarship so that should speak to their ability to scout talent.

More than the glory of winning and all that...

Most Hokies just don't like the Volunteers... And I'm 100% sure that goes for Pitt fans when it comes to Penn State.

We want to beat these guys like Clemson wants to beat S Carolina or FSU wants to beat Florida. Our teams don't always win, but it won't be for lack of desire!

As bad as App State made Tennessee look, I can't say I was impressed with the Hokies' performance in week one either. Unless their QB play improves a lot, I think they'll have a hard time moving the ball against the Vols. The Vols' narrow escape was the worst thing that could have happened to Va Tech. Maybe Tennessee got caught looking ahead. Let's hope that's true for VT as well.

I'll be at the Battle at Bristol with my hubby and some of our Wake tailgating buddies. Should be a people-watching extravaganza and after seeing how both Tennessee & VT struggled last week, the game itself should be quite interesting as well. 04-cheers

I think an ugly win was the best outcome for UT. I was hoping they wouldn't lose because I always feel that gets teams to focus more. A narrow win gets them doubting themselves without the extra motivation a loss serves up.

Tennessee...

6.5 million people. One family tree.

Only in Knoxville can a 100,000 seat stadium comfortably hold 50,000 married couples AND their first cousins.

...or should I have written "and they're first cousins"?

Tough game for VT...didn't really give themselves much of a chance.

Pitt win was important...I'd argue the more important of the two. If you ask me, losing the games you are supposed to win is more detrimental than winning games you are supposed to lose is beneficial.

A poor impression of fumble-rooskie. Congrats to the Vols.
