Huh?

Fine with Tubby.

Just not for a kid blowing a year of eligibility on half a season of play.

Believe it or not I was more disagreeing with some fans/posters than the coaches.

Some of the same fans who also werent overly concerned for the past 6 months NOW want a player to lose eligibility just so their 2016 season is 'saved' or whatever.

Can't have it both ways amigo.

And always on the players side above all else.

Dude, Azab was signed with hopes he'd play 2016. Just needed big players. Don't know if he sees any playing time or not.

College basketball is a business. You have to know your value and not overestimate your value to the team. Scholarships are renewed annually. Enough said...

You think fans weren't concerned? So we'll just have to give up on 2016? What are you, eight years old? Most of us knew we changed coaches in the 11th hour. Pastner had only signed 2 players in 2016 and only the JUCO stayed (Tubby already has signed 3 for 2017). Although I would have liked to see him sign every good player left, I also knew it wasn't likely. He brought Clergeot, signed Azab and the old man from Baylor. Recruiting relationships don't occur overnight and Memphis just isn't the draw it was a few years ago (again, look at Pastners 2016 class).

I don't think we'll have a great 2016. I hope they surprise us, but preseason rankings seem to agree. We'll find out soon enough. We've got some good players, but we have some missing pieces. Tubby's addressing those with 2017 recruits.

Anyway, I'll be there to watch the Tigers. I think Tubby will do well here. If he doesn't, I'll be the first to say "adios". I'll certainly give him a few years though...

Choose your path, cry over spilt milk or choose to be positive and support your team.

That's why you created 50 threads trashing him for his supposed lack of recruiting for 2016? 'Cause you're fine with him? Take your own advice. Don't trash a guy nonstop all summer and then try to claim you're a staunch supporter. Can't have it both ways.

Don't think I've claimed to be a staunch supporter. I said I'm fine with him.

And don't think I created 50 threads trashing him.

There is stuff about 2016 I won't put on this board but let's say it goes much deeper than me listing players and the staff not signing them. I say what I say because of insight not just wild guesses.

First off Azab will WANT to play...If he can contribute you let him.

If you have a kid who says I WANT to sit the bench and there is playing time available I am not sure I want him on my squad.

I can more understand the JUCO but not a freshmen.

And again, if I was their parent my counsel would be to red shirt and maximize eligibility.

If petty fans object then so be it.

If I am a coach and a player says I want to redshirt even though their is plenty of playing time available for them I would have an issue with it. Players should want to PLAY.

I recruited you to PLAY and you should want to PLAY.

So if maximizing your eligibility is always a concern why would any non NBA prospect ever play as a freshmen

Neither of these guys are going to the NBA. It's been reported that Rivers will be eligible. Arab had 3 more years of eligibility after this season. They won't have the opportunity to play as much as they will this year with such a thin team.

If they don't want to play, show them the door...

The university (i.e. coaching staff) shouldn't have waited until the 11th hour to bring a kid in when they could've been in the process of clearing up eligibility issues for the previous 6 months instead of a last minute mad scramble...the kid is "behind" because the staff did everything half a-s and last minute in his case.
