Wyoming Game Thread
Can somebody clarify if this was a 2 OT or a 3 OT game? I thankfully did not watch it, and I am seeing stats that show 2 OT and game summaries that say 3 OT. NIU's e-mail that they send after each game said 3 OT. Which is it?

I think it did hurt us. Guys were gassed, hands in the hips often catching wind. I noticed one lineman puking before the game but can't say for sure it was related. Obviously playing so late didn't help. It was 3:30 our time at the end.

NIU didn't look top 50 either, but I think it was a garbage night. Maybe NIU is not top 50 this year. But really, come back here at the end of the year, if Wyoming is bowling, I'll send you a six pack of any midwest beer you want….for real.

Enjoy the win…you certainly earned it. It's not about bashing you, its about bashing Hare for me.

Wyoming couldn't go anywhere but up. Our whole team was true freshman last year. I don't think wyo is a top 50 by any stretch but NUI and fan base didn't respect the team. I thought they killed on run D which they were terrible last year. I think you'll be buying lots of beer...

Fans didn't respect Wyoming because the worst MAC team (eastern michigan) went in and beat you last year for their first road win in years. And you won 2 games last year.

Last year means very little in college football. Wyoming had a young squad and their qb was hurt vs EMU. They are better than our fans gave them credit. Even with their better coaching, we still should have won.

Just last year Illinois postponed a game and played it the following day. So . . . why do you say the game could not be postponed?

BTW, the real problem is scheduling a game that late. And the real real problem is scheduling Wyoming in the first place. No disrespect, but NIU has nothing to gain by scheduling to play Wyoming in Wyoming. No real revenue, no exposure, and not even a win. Moreover--- scheduling a late night game in Wyoming followed by another road game in the other corner of the country - literally about as far as you can go and still be in the continental US is pretty much buying two losses. So, who does that?

That game was postponed from a friday to a saturday. Also I think there is logistical issues involved. That postponed game cost Kent State over $15k (lodging, meals, etc) which is a huge additional expense for a MAC team in wyoming.

That same year Toledo/Stony Brook cancelled their game at half time.

Hare was awful but he has been destroyed by Carey. I really believe that

I believe NIU fans(Most everyone here included) want a QB to save us. And when we get an average one we look to blame everyone from the left tackle to the punter. Hare sucked…sucked balls tonight. But we all want to scream bloody murder and say the team is falling apart.

A good QB wins this game easy. Hare put NIU in a bad spot all night. He may improve 300% in the next weeks, but he cost us a great season tonight by being rusty and sucky.
But we can still beat TOLEDO and WMU!!!!!!!!!!

I want some of what you've been smoking

Play the way we played last night, and the Phil John Flecksters and Toledo will beat us by 50.
Good analysis for someone who didn't watch the game.

Thanks!! I watched enough of the recorded game to see. I appreciate the compliment, however.

SF has no idea what the game time will be when he schedules... Thats up to the home team's tv contract provider. Any win over another G5 program is positive, especially MW or AAC. Would you rather travel down to play Lousiana Monroe in the SBelt? You think the kids are upset about flying to Tampa next week? 01-wingedeagle

1."the kids" are grown men.
2. The goal is winning. Now and in the future.
Every decision, especially major ones like scheduling, MUST be evaluated based on "how does this help us win now and in the future?" I don't know how the decision to schedule Wyoming would have stacked up to that question. It is certainly a team that can beat you ( they did) and they give you no exposure, it's not a money game, and if you win, no one cares. If I am wrong, tell me how.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that the argument P5 teams have as to why they would not want to play NIU in DeKalb?

That may change if they see it becoming easier to win. We just may be getting P5s in DeKalb.

Thanks for the game guys. Golladay is an absolute beast of a player and your QB is solid.

Best of luck on your season.
