Man, I'm so lost. My only consolation is STF hasn't said we are out of it while UNLV and Jiff of ECU have. Gotta be something there...

One thing to keep in mind through all this chatter is the free publicity and the new national level that we now find ourselves. The NIU brand has gone nationwide. The amount of phone calls, emails, texts that I have gotten from people that have mocked me[in the past and somewhat gently] for my support of NIU is very telling. The wormed has turned! Now I am getting "yeah, you guys are better and deserve to move up, good luck, go get 'em, it's about time etc. Even my U. of Oklahoma alum pal has changed his tune entirely. I am really enjoying this period no matter what happens.

The longer he stays silent, the more free "pub" we get. As colleges announce they are out, we are left as percieved finalists.

This is our second chance at Orange Bowl-level publicity. Obviously it isn't exactly at THAT level, but it is a national level and we should capitalize on the hype. People around campus are chatting about it, hell my family from other states who follow B1G programs are inquiring about NIU now and asking how we suddenly got in the conversation. We need to strike while the iron is hot. DO NOT let another opportunity like this slide away. Promote like hell, get our name out there as much as possible. Go for it STF!!!

No way a MAC team is jumping to the Big 12. It's cool to have apparently made the initial candidate list but there are just too many gaps in the resume to make the cut for the short list. I just wonder what happens from here. Maybe the AAC is an option but if even that is out range your basically stuck sinking a bunch of money into being a MAC program for the foreseeable future. All the challenges that come with that have already been vetted on this board numerous times. Interesting times for sure.

So if the B12 would consider Air Force for football only, they would have to have another school in mind to also consider for FB only in order to keep the membership even for other sports. Would they consider us for FB only given our lack of success in basketball, baseball, etc.

Wish they'd just make an official announcement

ECU chancellor claiming ECU found out last night after being contacted by B12 brass. The silence around NIU when other schools are stepping out as being no longer considered is good news for us

This is all part of the vetting process. The big 12 needs to know which teams would consider joining for football only. This is a long way from being concluded. Some people would have to contact their school to get permission to answer this question. Thus the delays.

I heard Idaho made the cut. They thought the Sun Belt was foolish not to hold onto such a great program. So if they get added to Big 12 then Jiff will have had the last laugh because we'll get a Big 12 team to come to DeKalb.
