A "no comment" would have sufficed. It's one thing if you're not going to beg and publicly schmooze the Big 12 into giving you serious consideration, it's another thing to defiantly and publicly say that you won't do it. These Big 12 Presidents, as have been showing, love the publicity and the attention. Does the public/political backing make or break a candidate for the Big 12? Of course not, but, in this situation, saying nothing would have been a lot better than going against the other candidates and the apparent desires of the Big 12 Presidents.

And this is why UConn REALLY needs the Big XII to stabilize itself (which may seem like hoping for a powerball ticket to hit, as goofy as the Big XII has shown themselves to be), and hang onto the schools that the Big Ten could swipe.
