I think you play all games at soldier field until stadium reno is complete and then still play Texas and OU there for the next 5 years.

It costs us about $1 million to rent out Soldier Field for a game. No way can we get payback on playing our games there.

The cell is much more reasonable and we have friends on the Illinois Muni board that controls the cell rental agreements.

I assumed it would be available in October, but I suppose the Sox have to leave some wiggle room for the playoffs. Still, even November would help.

This is true. There are a what, 10 million potential sets of eyeballs in Chicagoland the Big 12 universities could add? TV brings in the $.

I think with the way modern TV is going, this is a dangerous assumption.

It's not just about a network, if big 12 teams can get an advertising foothold in Chiacgo, that is big for every university in the conference. Is it a long shot? Sure. But the media ground is fertile and NIU is unmatched there.

I have always been told that ND controls most of the Chicago market and that most folks in Chicago are pro sports driven. I have a hard time thinking that NW and UofI have much control of the Chicago market. I just wonder how NIU would do much better?

All that matters is number of people/TVs within the market

I think that's oversimplifying it. The way TV will be consumed is going to change a lot in the next couple years. Cable revenue is going to drop by billions. The bundle is breaking. I know live sports is considered the "safest" choice but the money is in broadband going forward, so it'll be interesting to see how it works itself out.

I'm sure the price is the same for 1 game as it would be for 6. We could also do something like Toyota park for the less sexy games. You don't think the park district would want to make a deal?

Every person in that department should be fired. NIU's lack of marketing is like none other. PATHETIC.

Thinking about the timing and everything I just wonder if Frazier and his team should be spending time and resources on this instead of focusing on the upcoming season, selling tickets and season tickets, etc? Based on the other schools that are presenting and looking at their overall size, reputation, and budgets.......no offense to NIU, but I just dont understand any reason to do this? Its human nature for some people go through the motions just because other people are doing them, but why?

Dude don't be insecure, if NIU is as lost and as insignificant as you say, you sure are spending a lot of time worrying about NIU. I don't know why Toledo feels so threatened by NIU, just focus on your own team. Toledo has a good program in their own little world, as fans you shouldn't waste your time worrying about NIU and the Big 12, worry about Toledo finding some way to beat NIU before you retire. I really did not know how jealous Toledo fans were of NIU, in a way it is flattering but in a way it is kind of sad to be honest.

Our AD probably already has a lot of the presentation material figured out already so I doubt it takes too much time. It is a little odd though, and Arkansas State is doing this too. Maybe just a ploy to keep the brand name out there in public.

It is really disgrace, I know Coach Carey is home practicing his Vanna White twirl for the Big 12 poster presentation instead of focusing on Wyoming.

Go root for Toledo, go on their board. If you are envious of a school that NIU literally owns on the football field, then good riddance.

The staff will be ready, there is a reason you are not and never ever will be a coach, or a football mind for that matter. And how do you know that Carey is even involved in the pitch? Why would he be. You know absolutely NOTHING, and I don't mean just when it comes to Big 12 expansion.

Pounce on what? How do you "market" a presentation to the B12?
You don't. If anything, Media Relations would release something to the press but that's about as far as it goes. And, I doubt that NIU wants that sort of thing anyway. If they did, it would be there.
Marketing didn't miss anything here; it's not their job in this case.
