Houston and the Big Ten...not so crazy after all.
At first, I thought that Houston to the Big 10 was just some message board wacko talk.
Come to find out that Houston president Khator had an in-person meeting with Jim Delaney, having traveled to Chicago to woo him.
She also sent Commissioner Delaney a Christmas card.
The heated speculation of Houston to the Big 12 begs the question, if the Big Ten offered which would Houston choose?
And will Delaney sit idly by while one potential school is taken off the board?

Houston would choose B10 in a heartbeat, no question and it would be the smarter play. I just personally don't buy it

Maybe in the future but right now we aren't in the position academically to really intrigue the B1G. If we get our 4 year graduation rate stabilized we will jump up the academic rankings.

You can't get your girl to do a threesome if you don't ask. I'm glad we at least put the feelers out there.

Apparently our administration has been every bit as active as Cincy's leadership. Talk is Memphis leaders have been discussing possibilities with the Big12 for more than a year. I suspect everyone is feeling out where opportunities might lie for movement into a P5 conference. Need to learn to not use email. It amazes me the Oklahoma email dump from several years ago didn't teach everyone that lesson.

I didn't see the big deal about the FedEx $$$$ to support Memphis entry, and I certainly don't see the big deal of our Prez and AD leaving no stone unturned in getting UH into a P5.
Keep in mind, UH isn't leaking this info. It was obtained in an FOIA request.

RE: Houston and the Big Ten...not so crazy after all.
Well, Jim Delaney took the time to meet with the President, so there was something there. Even if it was only a professional courtesy, Houston got a foot in a door. I guarantee that there are hundreds of schools Delaney would just say no to even meeting.
Kudos to Houston for keeping this under wraps for so long. The send everyone Christmas cards thing isn't unique . I think it was Cincy that started this skirt-hiking technique.
One odd thing...all this must be getting out to Aresco. It seems that with Memphis' open talk of Fed Ex dollars, the Cincy governor, Houston politicians, North Carolina politicians, the USF letter of July 29th...the only schools that seem quiet are Temple, Navy, UConn, and Tulsa. I wonder if the AAC office will reward these programs when it comes time to scheduling.

Why ? Why do we crap on things like this ,after Maryland and Rutgers to the B1G and WVU to the BIG 12 I do not rule anything out. I can't stand some of the B.S. the Houston posters say but they are a good school and would do just as well as the new adds to the B1G could. Do not talk to me about academics that is nothing that can not be improved when priority is placed on it by the Houston administrators .
