Are you suggesting, in a roundabout way, that the ACC should dump its recent G5 acquisitions -- Pitt, Syracuse, and Louisville?

Syracuse and Pitt were never G5 dude. They always played at the highest level of fb. Are you even serious?

Maybe Pitt but Syracuse... Lol jk 05-stirthepot

Syracuse and Pitt were never G5 dude. They always played at the highest level of fb. Are you even serious? Let me put it this way for you: When SU and Pitt came to the ACC, its tv partner increased the conference payout significantly. The Big12 is talking about inviting Cincy and its other G5 cohorts and the networks dont want to pay anything else. Thats the difference between programs that have always played at the highest level and G5's

Ancient history. Cincy owned both of them in the Big East. Are you comfortable admitting that a G5 program was able to dominate your football legends? What a disgrace. And your use of the word Dude dates you. Most adults don't talk that way.

You werent a G5 when we all played together in the BE. You are G5 now. Yeah, you dominated a program during its worst 10 year period ever. Dont get too excited as everyone was dominating Syracuse then. Still though SU has always played at the top level of college fb.

RE: Dumping Cold Water On Your Expansion Fantasies
Some stories I have read indicate:

(1) it is not possible for ESPN and Fox to pay the Big 12 NOT to expand - the Big 10 and SEC would come knocking on their door if they did. The Fox/ESPN contract with the Big 10 is not signed, sealed, and delivered yet.

(2) Fox is not in lockstep with ESPN as a Big 12 expansion will mean more games in the East and they steal some properties from ESPN - the AAC is the best G5 conference.

They will expand by 4 teams.

The theory being tossed around (I do not I agree with it) is that those conferences can say "pay us for not expanding too".

The only schools out of the B12 that ANY conference has any interest in are Oklahoma and Texas. The SEC might be interested in either but Oklahoma can't go without Oklahoma State, which is a dealbreaker for the SEC, and Texas isn't interested in the SEC. The PAC is interested in Texas but Texas wants to put conditions on it -- take Texas Tech, accept the Longhorn network -- that are dealbreakers for the PAC. No, Texas doesn't really have an interest in the ACC and the same conditions would also be dealbreakers for the ACC if they were. Nothing has changed in either case since the last round of conference expansion. Nobody is likely to leave the B12 in the future for the same reasons they didn't leave in the past. Those reasons have little to do with media contracts.

As to the B12's media contracts, it sounds like current B12 members might get a windfall if they took in new members. ESPN would have to increase its payments proportionally, by something like $40-50 million a year but the B12 could pay the new schools only $10-15 million a year total. The problem with this is that the B12's contract with ESPN doesn't last forever and the B12 can't shortchange new members forever. Once the current contract is over ESPN may refuse to do business with the B12 or may lowball them. The conference would be even dysfunctional than it is now. Adding new members to the B12 over the objections of ESPN sounds like a really desperate move to me.

Oh, ok... they would knock on ESPN's door. I thought you were saying they would be knocking on the B10's door. My mistake...

that makes sense.
