Big North idea.
When Big 12 takes Cincinnati and Houston from AAC, UConn should take charge in building its own conference. I think Big North Conference including all state flagships in the north will suit UConn's need:
East Division:
Maine
UConn
UMass
Buffalo
Delaware
Temple
West Division:
Ohio
Northern Illinois
North Dakota
South Dakota
one directional Michigan school
Iowa State or Marquette
The map will look awesome and the oil money in Dakota will help the conference. UConn should also consider North Dakota State and South Dakota State to make 14 member conference because they are also Bowl Championship Series heavyweight.

Louisville fans are an odd bunch, simultaneously pointing out our irrelevance while obsessing over us. Quite odd.

What does UConn gain from this?? I think it looks worse than the AAC even after the big 12 picks it's bones.

Trust me. UConn has our respect. Both teams try to climb the ladder by improving ourselves. Louisville gets admitted to ACC solely on our own strength, not by the legacy built in the past. But the music chair has stopped. UConn should find a creative way to stay relevant.

Maybe Marquette wants to upgrade to FBS. Maybe Iowa State finds Big 12 too competitive and wants to minimize travel cost in the northern conference. You never know. The point is that UConn will be the boss in the new conference if they take charge in building it.

Both divisions have small footprint to minimize the travel cost inside the division while the covered area of the whole conference are pretty big.

An why would, UConn, Buffalo, Temple, Ohio, Northern Illinois, one of the directional Michigan schools want to join a new start up conference that WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY FOOTBALL PLAYOFF MONEY FOR MANY YEARS. No way CUSA, Sun Belt, MAC, MWC, or what is left of AAC would vote to include this new conference in a share of the above money. And why would a member of a P5 conference may the above move.

It's an interesting hockey arrangement. Gotta switch Ohio for Miami and N I'll for I'll St, which has a good arena.

Yeah the Iowa state makes over 30 mil in the big 12 I highly doubt we would give that up to become G5

What a douche OP. Makes sense though...Pitt got ahead with backroom deals, having had zero athletic achievements in decades to warrant their current affiliation.

UConn would burn Rentschler Field to the ground and return to the Big East before they joined this league.

I have a better idea. Change the name of the BigTen to the Big North.
Then of course add Texas and Oklahoma to keep everybody confused.

Wow a fan of city state school Louisville is going to insult UCONN and be that obvious about it? You must have balls hanging down to your ankles. I wouldn't even call that a troll post....way too hateful.
Cheers!

I am not rooting for any particular school these days. Like to watch all good basketball games no matter who are playing. UConn and Louisville play the best games these days IMO. So I hope something good happen to UConn. Also, football is just an extra for me. So although I really don't care much about the football field. I know it is the force driving conference alignment.
That being said, I think UConn has to think my Big North idea after AAC lose 2 members.

Just go with a eastern G5 conference made up of:
North:
UConn
UMass
Buffalo
Army
Navy
Temple
South:
Deleware
ODU
Marshall
ECU
USF
UCF
Play the CCG in DC.

Exactly
By that token let's go head and remove above said programs off the table along with UConn b/c let's be honest they aren't going to want to be a part of a league that's been proposed.
