Which team do you think will win the Coastal division in football this year and why?

Miami is strong this year.

Carolina will win due to their explosive offense. They will be improved on defense and able to pass to the entire route tree

I have my money on Miami. UNC, Pitt and Duke all at home, a proven QB, and a top notch coach with the most talent in the division. The only team I would say has a good shot is UNC.

Pitt because they will have the best defense and a very good running game. Hard for an opposing offense to score points when they are on the sidelines.

UNC first. Miami, Pitt and VT tied for second.

Duke

UNC.... the offense will be even better. Hood and Logan will run extremely well behind an O line that is returning 4 starters if I am not mistaken. The integration of the TE in passing routes will be more prevalent this season due to Fritts playing extremely well last season and the change to Tribisky at QB. The short passing game will be improved with the QB change. The improvement on D will continue.

I don't see it.

London had one "good" class, 2014, surrounded by a bunch of mediocre classes.

VT probably has more talent than UVA and as much as any other Coastal team. Biggest question mark for VT is how fast Fuente can get production out of the QB position. Also wonder if the DBs come back from injury 100%, and who will play DE opposite Ekanem.

VT is not a favorite to win, but the Hokies are a solid "dark horse".

Whoever is picked first by the media is doomed.

ESPN has compared the Atlantic with the SEC West during media days but the Coastal looks really good as well. While there aren't any national title contenders there likely, it is deep with top 25 potential. Tough division to call this year. That said, I will go with the Canes. All of that talent now has a quality coach. Kaaya just isn't one of the best QB in the ACC, he's one of the best in the country. The ACC has the best group of QB's again this year.

Did ESPN really say that? So much for our media partner not being willing to lie about how good we are to hype the ACC.

Carolina has to play FSU OOD on the road. Pitt has to go to Death Valley. Miami gets FSU at home, but they don't really have much of a home field advantage. IMO, whoever wins it will have at least 2 conference losses and will win on a tie breaker. It's a tossup among those three and VT, and I can't see any one of them having a significant advantage.

Yes, on CFL. Finebaum gave the SEC West a slight advantage & Dabo of course picked the ACC. They were primarily comparing the top 3 in each division. The panel agreed that the ACC will have a good opening weekend versus the SEC.

For fun I matched up the divisions based off of the preseason predictions of Athlon Sports. The SEC West is deep where the ACC Atlantic is top heavy. This is what I thought.

ACC-A would go 2-5 against the SEC-W Clemson and FSU W
ACC-C would go 4-3 against the SEC-E Miami Pitt GT and Duke W

I don't think they'd crush them but I do think they would win a shoot out by a touchdown.

Georgia Tech. they are usually one of the best offenses in the league, and they have a 3rd year starter at QB.

predict UNC will have a disappointing season, they got away with a really bad defense last year due to their offense and playing teams that were struggling on offense.

Their defense will be much improved in their second season under Gene. Similar to when Brent came to Clemson. I expect them to be a top 40 Defense.
