I might be wrong, but Navy is probably the biggest brand that the AAC has and I can see them bringing in big bucks that networks would pony up to get to help offset losing one or more teams...

Their last deal was negotiated before the bottom fell out. They were looking at a drop next time anyway, even without the losses. My guess is the contract without those two, would be almost half of its current value. (which is still quadruple CUSAs TV value). If they lost all four I would guess their contract is 25% of current value.

There is no way to know, but I suspect that the AAC would be fine. Yes, ESPN has the right to renegotiate the contract and even cancel it.

However--how wise is that? The AAC had 19 games included in their package last year that garnered over 1 million viewers. That's nice little media property that ESPN owns for 2 million a team. The AAC has vastly over performed in the ratings. Those numbers were not expected when the deal was negotiated in 2013---heck, many thought the AAC would never even play a game before it collapsed.

ESPN has a good deal and there's not much basis for cutting it---much less canceling it. One more thing to consider---ESPN just lost 50% of their Big10 content. They have some Big-10 slots to fill up. The AAC content is the best thing they have available to fill those holes in the line up. ESPN actually needs that AAC content now.

My guess is the AAC deal will still reflect a nice raise after they add Navy and have another solid year. Even at 2 to 5 times their current price they still represent a bargain when one considers their ratings performance. The key for the AAC is to keep pouring money into their programs (spending as much on quality coaching as possible) and playing games when ESPN asks.

No doubt the AAC is doing well for themselves and espn but will that still be true if UH, Cincy and others are gone?
