RE: ODU OOC schedule for Men's Basketball
Saw in the Roanoke Times today that UVA and VCU have signed another home and home MBB series, with the Hoos going to VCU in 2017 and to Charlottesville in 2018.
Can someone please explain to me why, with JJ as our coach and BS as an assistant, we can't seem to sign a deal with UVA to play them in MBB? I know, some would say we are not winners enough, but we have UVA basketball royalty on our team and can't close the deal? So frustrating....... 01-lauramac201-lauramac201-lauramac2

Its pretty simple. They aren't going to come here because we haven't been good enough, but we could possibly beat them on our home court. That would be a bad loss. You don't schedule bad losses that you think could actually happen.

Exactly. VCU isn't a bad loss and a good win and is only an hour away.

Best case for us is maybe a 1 for 2 with them.

Otherwise we'll just have to beat them in the NCAA tourney.

RE: ODU OOC schedule for Men's Basketball
VCU is killing it. They built that monstrous practice facility, are recruiting annually like a high level basketball program, and are getting love on the AAC boards as a good target from posters at some of those schools--without even having a football program!

And here we are...a program that was even with them (with better facilities in every sport), and beating them twice handily the year they had that FF run, with a football program that is average at the present but built on promise...and we aren't seen in at least the same regard? That choice shouldn't be close.

Just shows you what we're missing. A nice NCAA run and a football stadium that others would see as at least average. Unfortunately we cannot have both conditions done before 2019 and the AAC decisions will likely be made before they both occur.

I don't think VCU would want to destabilize their program's strength by going back to a football conference, but you never know. I do know this...if they happen to get one of those AAC spots, it is abundantly clear to me that ODU made the wrong moves not pushing for stadium overhaul back when it was en vogue for VA schools to do so (ala when JMU responded by our startup announcement threat by getting approval to expand half of their stadium).

ODU competing with AAC schools now would be a game changer for our program in real dollars and recruitment levels...shame.

Just a bunch of random thoughts here. I really don't think the AAC would want a hoops-only school with no shot at starting football. I'm just disappointed that we are not the lock candidate right now. ODU Sports came into C-USA already more accomplished than almost everyone sitting in the league for all the reasons that OldTimer has posted several times about. And all these sports accomplishments are being shaded by an old-@ss FCS stadium that reminds everyone how physically unprepared we really are.

Pretty simple. Without football Feces U has ZERO chance of being invited to the AAC. Regardless of what anyone on the Damnation boards says. No matter who says they have insider information and are in talks. No matter what anyone on this site posts about it. It WILL NOT happen. There is not one single school in that conference without football. Feces U will not break that mold.

Most people over there don't want the AAC. It's either the Big East or hold in the A-10. I think VCU would be a good institutional fit in the AAC as its structured now, but with teams gone, I'm not as sure.

Yeah well I'd say they're in the A-10 for the long haul because the Big East is all private institutions. I don't know why the retard sheep keep thinking the Bog East is going to come for them lol

Geographically-palatable conference, filled with like-minded institutions and athletic programs, that they regularly compete for championships in? Why would they ever leave?
