Seriously, it is an odd tradition to have sports teams visit the White House. I think the President has better things to do. If he's a Democrat he should be out and about adding regulations to everything. If he's a Republican he should be invading a country somewhere.
I don't think it's odd. I think you'd be hard pressed to find any head of state who doesn't receive talented and culturally significant people at the official residence.

The office of the president is larger than one person, the opportunity to visit a person of that stature happens so rarely (if ever) that I couldn't pass it up. Plus, it'd be interesting to see how their off camera personality was; I'd surely have fun knowing if the president was a good guy, a tool, a phony, etc.
I wouldn't. I've met presidents, they're no big deal. If I didn't care for the person, it'd be a waste of my time.
To each their own. I guess it's different when it's personal versus a special visit like the athletes do, obviously if I hated whomever is in office I wouldn't go over and hang out with some whiskey. But for something ceremonial I'd make the time, especially since my line of work isn't all that political.
I'd probably be more inclined to go hang out with some whiskey than do a public deal. At least hanging out with some whiskey, I could tell him what an absolute piece of sh-t I think he is.
You could get your wish under President Hillary:
