I assume he's healed up well or our staff wouldn't have offered the chance, right?

Can he play this season or does he have to sit out?

One article I read said he injured his hip coming back from his shoulder surgery and it noted that his athleticism never really came back. He is immediately eligible with two years remaining.

RE: Connor Mitch - QB xfer USC
Could be a really good get for the Dukes. 2015 he was named USC starter then went down with significant injuries - hip and shoulder early in the season. He was expected to compete for the 2016 starting spot under new coach. 3-4 star out of high school. I hope he is ready to go.

From USC Bio page:

Junior quarterback who again finds himself in a battle to earn the No. 1 signal-caller duties for the Gamecocks in 2016... named the starting quarterback when the 2015 season began and got the call in the first two games before injuries derailed him for the rest of the season... one of three quarterbacks on the roster who has a win as a starting quarterback under his belt.

2015: Earned the starting quarterback duties during preseason camp... went 9-for-22 for 122 yards and a touchdown pass in his first career start against North Carolina... first career TD pass was a nine-yarder to Pharoh Cooper... also ran the ball 10 times for 44 yards despite suffering a painful hip pointer in the contest... ran for his first career touchdown and completed 4-of-7 passes for 43 yards against Kentucky before suffering a shoulder injury that took him out of the game... that injury, along with complications from the hip injury caused him to lose a significant amount of weight and was not able to regain the strength and form that earned him the top spot the depth chart... did not see any other action during the season... finished the season 13-for-29 for 165 yards passing with one touchdown and 51 yards on 14 carries and a score on the ground... shared Most Improved Quarterback in the spring accolades with Perry Orth.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Wakefield High School in Raleigh, N.C in December 2012... a four-year starter... coached by Rod Sink... finished his prep career ranked second in four career categories in North Carolina high school history, passing for 12,078 yards with 1,384 attempts, 807 completions and 153 touchdowns... threw for 4,661 yards and 63 touchdowns while completing 62 percent of his passes as a senior, leading the Wolverines to an 11-2 record... set the state record with nine touchdown passes in a win over Broughton, one shy of the national record... as a junior, threw for 3,832 yards and 48 touchdowns as the team went 9-3... earned all-state and all-region honors... threw for 3,300 yards and 33 scores as a sophomore, leading Wakefield to a 9-3 mark... four-star prospect who was regarded as the seventh-best player in the state, the 13th-best pro-style quarterback in the country and ranked No. 248 on the Rivals250... a three-star prospect and the nation's 44th-best quarterback by Scout... a four-star prospect, the seventh-best player in the state, the 13th-best pro-style quarterback and ranked No. 243 overall by 247Sports... rated a four-star prospect and No. 226 on the ESPN300... considered the 10th-best pro-style quarterback in the country by MaxPreps... a three-star prospect, the 15th-best pro-style quarterback in the country and the 167th-best player overall by PrepStar... named honorable mention on PARADE magazine's All-America team... chose the Gamecocks over Alabama, LSU, Auburn and North Carolina.

Will say this could be a chance to be a really good bridge here as well. Let Connor be QB for 2 years if he wins the job and then you have a young Frosh to develop with Cole Johnson

Obviously no guarantees with any transfer, but I will gladly take a kid who is talented enough to be named the starting QB for USC on my team.

Nice get by Coach Houston

If healthy, this should push the Dukes into the top 10 in FCS this year. But that's still a big IF. Nice get - fingers crossed it works out for the team. Not much time to build chemistry with the receiving corps. From what I can tell, he'll also bring the intangible of leadership even if his injury has him less than 100%.

If I were other teams in the CAA, I'd be thinking, "Damn, JMU has reloaded again!"

Everytime you guys say USC I think Pete Carroll, Matt Leinart, etc. not the Spurrier Gamecocks. That said it's still appears to be an impressive addition and for 2 years which you have to like.

my initial reaction is... AWESOME, text my mom, brothers, etc.

once the news sets in, I'm always concerned about someone coming back from a major injury, seems they never quite come back themselves at the D1 level and beyond ... looking at you RGIII

If he has that leadership spark that VL2 had, I welcome him with open arms! 10 weeks!

Had a lot of really impressive offers coming out of HS (bama, auburn, lsu, unc, nc st, tenn, etc). Hopefully he's healed up from his injuries and ready to compete for the starting job.

RE: Connor Mitch - QB xfer USC
The kid seems like a class act, so character is not an issue. The injuries have me very worried. When more than one injury takes a player out for multiple games, that is not good.
IF Mitch stays healthy, I find it hard to believe he wouldn't be our starter. This could also bring out the best in Schor since it doesn't seem like there was much of a competition at starter up until Mitch.

Side note, did anyone else notice which helmet he posted? Is that a sign that we may see the chrome again??? Probably not, but I can dream!

His high school is the one closest to my house. I'll find out the scoop on him from the locals. He had graduated by the time I moved to Raleigh.

Are you guys really sure you want this guy starting for us?

Just kidding. I wonder what this means for Schor's future at JMU. Will he transfer, or is he the guy if Connor can't come back from the injuries?

I felt disappointed when coach Houston told me at the Spring social he wasn't looking to add a transfer QB last month.
It was the only weak spot on the roster.
Problem now solved.
Coach has some coy skills.

No matter who wins QB 1, the backup will be strong.

Floowed his rise in HS, as he played right around the corner from me. Highly recruited, everyone wanted him. Hope his injuries are a thing of the past. He is dropping waaaaaaay down the competition ladder so he should be fine and hope he lights up the scoreboard for the Dukes. There is a huge difference b/w secondaries in the SEC and what he'll face on Saturdays in Harrisonburg, love it!

WM also just landed a transfer from South Carolina, kinda a funny coincidence there.

RE: Connor Mitch - QB xfer USC
Only downside is he has just played very little football over a long period of time and will be coming in and learning a new system. Wish we could have had him in the spring but I imagine he was finishing up his undergrad degree. Either way, it's great to have competition with Schor.

I'm guessing Houston is going to let them compete straight up in camp and may the best man win. It's actually not the worst thing in this case to have the CCSU and Morehead games early to let whoever it is to get some game reps before the competition level rises.
