Congratulation Coastal Carolina!! Way to Geaux Chants! I would never thought in my wildest dreams that it would be Arizona a team that the Ragin Cajuns lost to in there regional make it to the NC series, and Coastal Carolina new member of the Sunbelt Conference

I wanted Arizona to go deep in the CWS, but against Coastal? I got to go for Coastal all the way. Let's Geaux Chants! "You can do it, you can do it all night long!"

Was in Myrtle Beach the last few days. The area is really getting behind the baseball team.

I have updated this to make it the official thread. Keeping everything in one thread has worked all tournament long, it simply must continue.

You'll hear differing opinions on personal preference, but we market ourselves as "Coastal" for the most part when it comes to athletics (and even in academic settings at times).

And personally, I think "Coastal" sounds the most bad ass.

Is this real life? I grew up right beside the school and watched it grow from a very tiny, barely independent university into the first-class, gorgeous university with a dominant athletic program that it is now.


About the naming. It's Coastal Carolina, but that's too wordy for casual conversation. We all say Coastal, unless talking to someone who is unfamiliar with the school, or it's a formal setting. If you're telling someone in SC where you go to school, you'd say "I go to Coastal." It'd be the opposite if you were talking to someone from out of state, though. Most announcers quickly realize Coastal Carolina is too wordy and sometimes call us "Carolina." Scar and UNC can debate that title for all we care. We'll take Coastal. Hopefully after Tuesday enough people will understand what Coastal means.

Pretty big week for Coastal. They play for a College Baseball National Championship Monday through Wednesday (IF ness) and officially become memebrs of the Sun Belt Conference on Friday.

Oh, no. Honestly, no one really cares about that. It's just easier to say. The only real preference most of us have is using CCU as the official abbreviation. I've seen some media outlets use CCar and other crap. But Coastal Carolina is just fine for the thread title.

Have to admit, never knew what a Coastal Carolina was. Watched their first game of the world series and thought they were a little "rag tag" looking to me. Boy was I wrong! Good luck guys, I'll be pulling for you!
