RE: BB Recruiting
Here's my recruiting wish list, assuming we have 1 or 2 scholarships ending up to give in addition to all of the confirmed newcomers already.
First, I don't view PG or wing as being the emergent need. Although I much prefer Sanford on a wing, he has shown he can be a competent PG, and I also think it's time again for TK to have a true freshman who starts from day 1 & becomes a long-term building block ala Juice & Boothe, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Marreon Jackson is that guy. He doesn't have to have the numbers of a Juice or Boothe, just be real solution at PG.
Plenty enough wings next season: Sanford, Navigato, Fletcher, & Willie Jackson when he becomes eligible.
The need is in the post. Even with Steve Taylor, Jr. and the numbers he put up that was a problem area for us against better teams, particularly on D. I'd love to see us add some help for Knapke & Adway there. So...
If we have 1 scholly left to give, I'd be happy to see it go to a 6'8, 230 lb. JUCO who will be here for two seasons. Different body build than either Knapke or Adway. Doesn't have to be a star. Someone whose style of play gives us maybe 3 different looks in the post, maybe even someone who's noticed more for their D than their scoring. Between the 3 players then, that would give us 15 fouls to give in the post, and a great shot at replacing his 13 rebounds a game. I know Dzierzawski & Antunez were complete busts for us, and there's always a risk of that with late-signing JUCOs in particular, but I'm not convinced that we will land a high school recruit who can contribute in the post immediately (VerbalCommits.com has us with open offers to 2 6'8" recruits but both have a number of other mid-major offers as well and I don't know how long I would wait on them if the right JUCO was available today).
If we have a second scholly beyond that, I'd look for a grad transfer, preferably a power-forward type or another post player & then experiment with Adway out of the post.

That's absolutely what we and half the other mid-majors in the country need, but it's not as if there are a bunch of them out there who are available, eligible, baggage-free and dying to be Rockets. But you're right about what we need. We just lost our three most valuable players and are hoping to be better. Tall order, but there does seem to be some talent waiting in the wings (which is the what I've heard for the last few years now).

I would respectfully disagree I really think Sanford was the MVP because when he was on they were at their best

He certainly deserves to be in the discussion. They need to chain Knapke,Adway and Navigato and maybe Fletcher in the weight room until September.

Without some sort of 4/5 game next year; it will be a long season.
Too many bad matchups in the MAC alone. Taylor was a legit 4 (for the MAC (2nd team), but no 5 (Garber would have no doubt helped). Luke is too skinny, and will be - forever. That's his body type.
They have nothing on the horizon to change that.

Disagree on Knapke. He gained 20+ pounds last year and will likely add more. He is NOT skinny. He shot 60% from the field and 49% on threes plus 76% on free throws. 7 points and 4 rebounds in 18 minutes per game. I expect him to be a 14/8 guy as a sophomore.

I agree. Knapke beefed up in the off season. He'll be fine.

Maybe so, but he needs to play with more physicality. Got pushed to the side or backed down quite a bit. Some of that may have been due to lack of experience & body positioning, admittedly.

2017 PG Devante Carter (@dLC_Oo) of CBD Montverde/@BooWilliamsAAU has received an offer from Toledo.
So I am jumping to the conclusion that BOTH Antunez and Roberts will not be back.
Carter averaged 13.9 points per game last season as a Senior at Woodside (VA) High School. He signed this past summer to play a post graduate year at Montverde Academy in Orlando which also has as past graduates, Ohio State and current LA Laker, D'Angelo Russell, former Kansas Center, Joel Embiid and former LSU and #1 NBA Draft Choice from last season, Ben Simmons. I have not been able to find any of his Statistics or Video from this season at Montverde Academy.

Case in point... Casey Shaw came in at about 6-10 205... He ended up around 250 pounds in his senior year...
The extra weight/muscle did him well, and enabled Shaw to become an all MAC player. Knapke could end up the same, with the right dedication.

RE: BB Recruiting
nice highlight reel. physical strong pg which would be a nice change. looks like a high major player in terms of physique and skill. not an explosive leaper or super fast, but has a very quick crossover and spin move and a real sense of the game. strikes me as a guy who would make his teammates better on the court. i like roberts grit but this kid looks like an upgrade over roberts or antunez and sanford only has 2 years left so we need a future pg along w m jackson. still need a big tho

How about the other Rocket hoops marriage? Might be less competition without relative coaches. Can't think of names- maybe Albert and... he dropped off the men's team after a couple unproductive years but she was, I believe, a HOFer but before I followed the women much so I can't recall her name.
