You're right about that. All of us fans on message boards melt down every time some bad news comes our way and we have had our fill of bad news lately. IMO the university presidents in C-USA have no desire to run off half cocked and make things worse. But regionalizing our conference(s) would actually be a smart thing to do. We have two 7 school divisions and those two divisions can/should compete almost entirely within the divisions and have conference tournaments at the end of each sports season. Tournaments that only involve a few of the top teams. We should not be sending Charlotte or ODU softball teams to El Paso and San Antonio. We should not be sending UTEP golf to FIU/FAU. Lots can be done to save money right away, starting with the coming school year.

I don't think our administration believes in the program. If they did, they'd invest in it. I'm an ODU grad and I say it looks like they are prepared to move back to FCS if need be.

They know the demand better than we do, but I honestly think they are underestimating the impact of having P5 games on the home schedule.

You can get creative with marketing if you want. The last few seasons is honestly the only time I can remember Marshall actually being aggressive/creative with the marketing. It is definitely paying off, and I think our attendance will continue to grow. I know average attendance was down last year, but rain and noon kickoffs have killed us.

Anyways, we are offered a 3 game mini pack that people can purchase, instead of the entire season ticket. You get a selection of premier, deluxe, and standard.

So basically this is a way for us to sell tickets to some of these other games packaged with the Louisville game. When you sell out the P5 games, people will buy this season ticket mini pack just to make sure they can get a ticket to the Louisville game. If they are a local, they might just come to the other games if they have a good time, the team is doing good, and they already have a ticket.


Also looks like our athletics department learned their lesson from the Va Tech game a few years ago. They came in ranked and we were charging way to much money for the game. We still hadn't recovered from the "dark years" yet and only had 34,000 + people there.

Purdue came to town last year, we had regular prices, had around 39,000 there, and I was told we turned people away at the gate. I'm not sure cause I have season tickets lol.

Single game tickets for the Louisville game are just bumped up a little above the regular prices. $30 for the upper endzone.

We can charge 5$ more a game for premier matchups and get away with it. Not many G5 can say that. With Louisville its definitely worth is and still cheaper than going to UL to watch a game. Same as Purdue last year, it was worth the charge. UL will bring the fans too, maybe not as much as WVU but I still expect standing room only being gobbled up.

I doubt we turned anyone away at the gate, look at the WVU games in Huntington, 1-2K more people with standing room only. But we did max the seating out with Purdue. They didn't bring a crap load of fans either, that much we can be proud of.
