YES!

As methodical as the ACC office has been in developing whatever model it is they are going to offer, and with the ACC actually hiring consultants to do the dirty work and heavy lifting, one cant help but to be encouraged. As you and everyone else well know, those folks did not rush into this thing.

Folks who look at this project from just a fb perspective are being short sighted in terms of the potential profitability of this ACCN. The ACC bb is superb and can not be matched by any other league. That is what, in my opinion will push the ACCN into homes and on cable systems. In every state that the ACC is in, its teams are either the number one or number two team in that state, and sometimes both number one and number two.

ND, I think will also help the ACCN. I would be shocked if the ACC did not push a couple of those ND/ACC home games on the ACCN, along with a few key ND/ACC home bb. For instance, when ND plays SU at the Dome, or UNC or Duke at their home arenas. ND basketball is coming into its own now, and as long as Brey is running the show, more and more ND fb fans will get hooked on bb.

Not really. I believe it's going to bring us about what ESPN would have to pay as a penalty if they do not create a network.

I think ESPN owes the ACC about $3 Million per team and basically will be the limit to an ACC Network.

ESPN will spend the same amount of money. They will look for a win by getting an extended GOR to go along with spending the same amount of money.

It's most likely a website with ACC Logo and money already owed to the AC.

Not really. I believe it's going to bring us about what ESPN would have to pay as a penalty if they do not create a network.

I tend to agree with the caveat that we will dump a ton of money into it, so the payout will look higher. However, the NPV will be in the ballpark of the $3 mm per year raise that ESPN offered.

It will, however, give the ACC more control over our narrative, and it will probably be a boon for students who are interested in communications.

That's not enough to move the needle as far as many on this site hope, but it's probably better than the alternative of not having a ACCN.

On the bright side, if the ACC wants to be successful, we have to make serious investments in our programs (esp. football), and ACC schools have been doing that recently. The conference is probably 20-30 years later than it should be, but at least it's moving in the right direction.

My prediction:
It'll cost $5 million per team, but it will return $10 million.
It will result in better coverage
It will result in more opportunities for students.
FSU and Clemson fans will complain about it.

IMO
2-3 million a year max... ND will get a hamburger and a coke (adding cheese will be to much unless we join in full).

Fighting over peanuts compared to the Big 2.

And no ACC team outside of FSU/Clemson will win a national title in football or even make the playoffs

Fixed it for ya!

IMO:

We'll get an online "network"
We'll get paid exactly what they were going to have to pay if there was no network
As always this board will be filled with posts that are the verbal equivalent of this:

And the gap will continue to grow between the ACC and our direct competitors.

Well at least there is some progress with the naysayers. Last year this time they were still complaining that there will be no ACCN. Now they seem to acknowledge that there will be a network but its not going to be profitable. Baby steps.

Being the optimist that I am, I don't normally label anyone as a pessimist. However, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, chances are it's not a cow.

Agree...I think we will have a dedicated channel like ESPN did for the SEC... but we will sell a "ACC Ticket" package to either Dish or Directtv (basketball....may even include football)

Plus we will reach the cord cutters with a streaming option that will look much like the WWE network streaming option....

The trick is going to be third tier rights and how we can simulcast those on say Fox sports South or Northeast and via streaming and via the ACC Ticket....
