CUSA Digital Network currently ran by CBS Interactive. [Has many games shown but must pay $9.95/month]
New partner for Digital Network??

Looks like the answer to the OP is "Yes".

Quote:The deal with ESPN could have the most impact on ODU. ESPN has agreed, in essence, to replace the Conference USA digital network. It would broadcast most league contests on ESPN3 not already televised on conventional networks. That means most ODU sports events, including some football games, would be available internationally on ESPN3.

I will admit, ESPN3 is very nice for people whose ISP's pay for the service, like Comcast.

FOX needs to set up something like that, to compete. It could go after G5 teams and some of the higher up FCS teams.

I think its also available to those that have a cable subscription to ESPN. Id say between those two groups, it probably is accessible to as many homes as a the major over the air 3 letter networks. Clearly, the viewership would be nowhere close to the 3 letter networks---but the access to households probably is.

Interesting.
another quote in the article:
"ESPN will send consultants to all 14 C-USA schools to, as one official said, "coach all of us up" on how bring their production levels up to ESPN standards. The schools will be expected to pay production costs.

As long as those production standards are met, ESPN will broadcast most or all of those games on ESPN3, sources said."

CUSA was the conference that I thought could go either way with the digital network, but it seems now with the ESPN package, they'll use ESPN3 for games not broadcasted by another other TV provider.

An interesting though not confirmed opportunity is with the College Sports Extra channels that TWC and I believe other cable companies carry. They typically broadcast ESPN3 content over regular cable (you have to buy the $8/mo sports pass) ... which means that locally, if this plays out accordingly, CUSA sports will be readily available to TWC customers without having to stream.

Big IF, but potentially interesting.

Not really. Those 8 networks that make up College Sports Extra do broadcast ESPN3 events---but there are usually a ton more games on ESPN3 than 8. They show all sorts of stuff there including D2 and FCS---so coverage on those cable TV networks will be a bonus when it happens, but not something you can really count on for every game. Also, be aware, these College Sports Extra channels are only offered in Standard Definition on many cable systems (that's here in Houston for ATT-Uverse users).

Fox actually has the Fox Sports Go app, which is similar. They just don't use it (yet) for anything but to mirror their national and regional TV channels. I don't know of any exclusive games they stream, other than overruns.

With CUSA signing a 2 year deal with ESPN for games over TV, is ESPN3 as separate deal or part of the package? Has anybody come across other conference with ESPN if ESPN3 is a separate deal?
Reason I ask is that with CUSA putting their games not broadcasted on TV to ESPN3, it would seem somewhat unreasonable for all the CUSA schools to upgrade the production equipment to show the games on ESPN3 if only a 2 year deal is sign for that side of the equation.

I think they do that some for miscellaneous MMA stuff but I could be wrong.

This is only tangentially relevant, but didn't think it deserved a new thread: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-...-your-car/

So why am I bringing this up? Because this report, if you read between the lines, tells us that AT&T is going to re-boot DirecTV as an online, streaming pay-TV service in the next few years. Of course, they'll still service the satellite TV business ... but this will be AT&T's foray into the world of Sling, Playstation VUE, etc.
