I'm not riled up, but I'm wondering what information you are basing your assessment on when at least six players who should make major contributions (BJ Stith, Carver, Haynes, Green, Kah, Porter) have to yet play one minute for ODU. Also, I don't see five on that team better than Talley.

While your assessment is obviously very subjective, I can't help but feel the same way. We haven't had an Alex Laughton or Lee in a long time. I doubt if Taylor would be a starter in those days.

Hats to make his argument in either direction. In the Bt days, we complained that he wasn't keeping up with the times. He was playing inside out basketball when most of the country had moved to guard oriented play.

Now we just had one of the best two year runs by a guard this school has ever seen. Clearly we don't have any inside talent, but our parameter has improved. Drew Williamson was a true pg and a special one at that. But no offense to Darius James or marquel delancey, but our guards today are far superior.

The results fell in the older classes favor which we have not seen with our guard oriented play, but it's hard to compare if you ask me.

Loughton, Dahi, Hunter, and Drew would definitely start, and Brandon Johnson would be as good as any backcourt player we have seen recently besides Trey and probably Stith... and was VV on that team too? If so he would be ahead of anyone at his position as well coming off the bench. Talley appears to have some solid potential, bit until he can I nock down a jumper, it is mostly potential.

Brandon Stith seems to be about as effective as a VV/Dahi type player....no?

Alex and Lee were very skilled, knew the game and his assignments, and could shoot the rock. They were, however, a little soft for the bodies and banging in CUSA, where guys like Ross and Stith are better suited.

I disagree. Loughton and Lee would have been fantastic players in any conference in America. There aren't a ton of big men as skilled as those two left in the college game these days.

As long as they have Dahi and Hassell banging with them, I do agree.

Both Dahi and VV were about as effective around the rim as Brandan, but they had range out to the three point line, and could take their men off the dribble. Brandan is a nice player, but not nearly as versatile.

Dahi and VV compare more closely to Talley, but with 3 point range.

RE: Memory Lane
Just because I like the discussion...

Dahi (JR season - I chose his best year):
FG % - .474
3p % - .377 (61 attempted)
FT % - .781
Tot RB - 164 (4.8 per game)
Asst - 21 (.6/gm)
STL - 21 (.9/gm)
BLK - 34 (1/gm)
Pts - 406 (11.9/gm)
Strength of Schedule - 1.45

VV (SR year - his best)
FG % - .486
3p % - .329 (76 attempted)
FT % - .758
Tot RB - 200 (6.1 per game)
Asst - 31 (.9/gm)
STL - 22 (.7/gm)
BLK - 16 (.5/gm)
Pts - 516 (15.6/gm)
Strength of Schedule - .43

Stith (SOPH season)
FG % - .550
3p % - none attempted
FT % - .478
Tot RB - 310 (9.7 per game)
Asst - 12 (.6/gm)
STL - 21 (.7/gm)
BLK - 64 (2/gm)
Pts - 332 (10.4/gm)
Strength of Schedule - -2.31

Brandon has best overall shooting percentage, best rebounding by far, best blocks by far.

However, he has no 3pt game, is very bad from the line, and played a much easier schedule than the other two. On the other hand, he is only a sophomore, and his numbers are VERY favorable if you compare him to sophomore VV or Dahi.

Based on the numbers, I would be comfortable putting him in the same category as the other two.

I can buy that. Especially since there is a n acknowledgment of the difference in SOS. The CAA in it's glory days was every bit as good if not better than current CUSA, IMO

Can someone make this happen. Past 15 years VCU alumni vs ODU Alumni for a Charity game at ODU and VCU. Let VCU get Eric manor and that cannabis smoking Sanders if they want. Would love to see Loughton Dahi, LEE, Bazemore play once more at ODU.

What about playing for $2 million bucks? VCU has an alumni team that includes many of the guys you mentioned. Maybe next year ODU should put a team together. Of course this year Frank Hassell is playing on the 757 squad.

I'd support an ODU dream team of past players from the last 10- 12 years 04-cheers
