Ole Miss will fall hard in lieu of punishment for Bama's misdeeds. The timing couldn't be better for Bama.

It's pervasive throughout all of college football. Don't bury your head in the sand.

Yet the players are "student-athletes" who cannot be employees and cannot be paid.......except under the table with everyone winking and nodding.

Then, somehow, it is shrugged off and is all a-ok as long as the tattered fiction remains...and the players don't really get paid a lot.

It is a despicable setup.

Agreed, but no one forced these players to sign up for a broken system

What other system can these players "sign up for"?

A minor league run by the NFL??

Well, the system is designed to fail because that is what works for everybody.

There is only a single way to prevent this type of thing and that is to place responsibility equally on the student-athlete. But, that will never happen and so the system will continue to be a farce.

None. But there is no guarantee of a financial windfall should a minor league football be created. More to the point, these players chose to pursue a career in football despite the fact it has the worst incentives when compared to baseball and basketball.

Looks like Tunsil Former Financial Advisor is the person that leaked the video:

Palm Beach Post beat reporter Andrew Abramson is reporting through sources that the Dolphins believe Tunsil's former financial advisor is the one who leaked a video showing Miami's first-round pick smoking marijuana through a gas mask.[

Well, not only is he not that, but he is that which he proclaims he is better than. Ultimate hypocrisy right there.

The writing was on the wall when Ole Miss started hauling in top-5 recruiting classes after being at the bottom of the SEC for so long. Many turned a blind eye hoping that the was the result of hard work, persistence and a commitment towards building a program the right way (unfortunately, it most certainly was not).

Leramy Tunsil, whether it was by his hand last night or not, has given a historical and everlasting black eye to Ole Miss, the athletic department, its fans and its alumni everywhere.

My longstanding, deeply held belief and my life experience has always been that people who grandstand their faith and publicly spout off the most about the Lord, the Bible and "family values" are usually the biggest hypocritical thieves, spousal abusers, rapists, child abusers, drug addicts, etc...out there (especially politicians and coaches).

Dennis Hastert is just the latest that comes to mind.....

Wow. I agree with both of you. The interwebs may short circuit

So basically this is like when Reggie Bush got burned because he switched agents and the spurned agent leaked all his violations?

What's wrong about getting a degree and having it paid for ? Only a small percentage will play pro ball anyway when it's all said and done.

I'm more inclined to think that these players signed up because of the broken system. One of my good friends was on the Ole Miss team a few years ago. Aside from basic preferences like location, general like/dislike of the school, etc, at least when it comes to the "higher quality" athletes, the difference between going to Ole Miss vs USC vs Bama turn into what kind of "perks" are going to be given.

So colleges are trade schools for athletes. Let's make them two years also.

Nothing if the players can meet the same standards as the rest of the regular student body. If they can't, then they don't belong in school. Athletics should be secondary to studies - no exceptions. Since we know this doesn't happen irl, then a D league is the ethical approach to take.

Well, then you get into the issue of the schools with very low athletic grad rates. Those schools seem to just prop them up enough to squeeze eligibility out of them and then throw them away without even a degree.

Latest on the Tunsil incident:

The Palm Beach Post reported earlier this week that the organization thinks Tunsil's former financial advisor leaked the video onto Tunsil's Twitter page. And now, according to ESPN.com, Tunsil's attorneys and agents are investigating a relationship with a former business manager/financial advisor to see what role the man may have had in the video making its way online. Based on what's discovered, Tunsil's representatives could turn their findings over to the FBI.

More via ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach and Nicole Noren:

Tunsil fired the business manager after other agents informed Tunsil that the man wasn't licensed or registered to work as a financial adviser but was a "runner," a term used to describe someone who gives money and other benefits to a player in order to entice the player to sign with an agent or financial adviser with whom the runner is working.

The sources said the business manager gave Tunsil a new cell phone in mid-October. People close to Tunsil believe the man might have accessed Tunsil's social media accounts Thursday by logging into them through his old phone.

So....in Mid October Laremy Tunsil had a "Business Manager/Runner" during College Football Season...hhhhmmm...07-coffee3
