I visited our own TIPWAL today--i.e. Saluki-- and asked him where we stood and who is being considered by our recruiting team. Here's his assessment which seems pretty dead on the money:



We have 10 right now:

C:
Parks

Martin

We have to get a guard, if not we will be woefully undermanned at the 1/2.

The pure three is undermanned and if the thinking is that Rivers, Davenport, or Thornton can play the three, then we should probably be suspicious of talent evaluation.

We are set at the 4/5 with 60% of the roster comprised of them.

I guess we can do few things:

Redouble on Darrington, which will give Memphis 5 JUCOs this year and (more importantly 6 juniors, by class on the roster). A complete reload in two years.

Try to find some other PG like Trey Dickerson, but it seems Memphis is on the outside looking in.

We will get a chance to see JUCO PG (and Memphis Overton grad) Jerry Hurt this weekend. He has no offers, but wouldn't be shocked to see us get interest in him if he has a good showcase this weekend.

Hughes is off to Indiana State.

We still have to be mindful that Rivers is the only senior and that we need to keep a few scholarships open for the 2018 class. So, we should probably expect them to get one more 2+ year player.

We can still add grad xfers at will.

I'm staying away from his twitter. He gets into it too much with people I know and respect.

I'm just reporting the official names on Rivals, ESPN, 247. I share very little inside info that you can't find there.

Clayton Hughes signed with Indiana State today. Looks to me like we have signed a lot of what would be 2-3 stars; some not that. Have not addressed most glaring need: SHOOTING THE 3. Very mediocre class IMO with not much to start with.

My expectations are low.
