excellent recruiting info on Ukwu..... looks like a great get for the Dukes .... Has a good frame(has room to grow), decent feet, great strength for his current weight, quick (4.8/40), good vision (goes for the ball), has good ability to fend off a block.

Anybody know the story with Anthony Womack? He hasn't been on twitter since August where his profile still says JMU Football '20. Nothing is coming up on google.

Doesn't show anything on the JMU Roster as well.

And remember, some of the kids whose only other offers were schools like Elon, St. Francis or Kentucky Christian, they might only be getting half scholarships or preferred walk ons.

RE: 2017 FB Recruiting
Side note regarding recruiting, today a proposal to add an early signing period for D1 CFB in June was rejected. However, it appears sufficient support exists to ratify a new early signing period in mid-December (in addition to the traditional NSD in early February) starting this next year.

I don't know yet how this might affect the Dukes any differently, if at all. Thinking aloud, I'm guessing it might (and I stress "might") force some D1A programs we are in competition with for recruits to play their cards earlier with their scholarship allotments. Maybe (again, "maybe") this more quickly gives some guys still pondering their destination to look harder at who has signed, how many spots filled at their respective positions, etc., and choose to look elsewhere from perhaps a P5 program they like and towards a G5 or high-level D1AA. Lots of ifs. Certainly, continuing to play big games on national TV throughout December and into January should help us regardless of when they sign.

Two recruits not mentioned above M.J. Hampton (DB/RB - 6'0" - 190Ib. - VA) and Kyle Davis (LS/DE - 6'1" - 205Ib. - NC) both are JMU Commits according to their twitter accounts but I don't see anything about them elsewhere online on sites like 24/7 or Rivals. Any one have information on them?

Let’s all hope that Alls comes back quickly since he’d instantly be our go-to downfield threat. Miller has proven himself to be very capable and I have to think a solid WR2. Walker will likely contribute, but he’s largely a mystery at this point.

The guy I think we’re going to miss the most is actually Domo Taylor. That guy made some incredible catches and his size made him an instant mismatch for pretty much every CB that lined up across from him. Stapleton has similar size, but we haven’t seen anything from him yet so I’m not counting on him for massive contribution. At least not yet.

That being said, if we’ve got Alls, Miller, and Kloo catching passes next year, we’re going to be just fine.

Kloo missed some games due to injury as did Steele, Kirsch, and many other players. Alls will miss the first 4 or so games. Depth is critical. Richmond started the year ranked 2nd in FCS and lost 11 starters to injury during the year. JMU lost a top linebacker against Richmond and played with two freshman in 2008. That was a weakness Richmond and others took advantage of. Landers almost took us to the national championship, but got hurt at the end of the Villinova game. We would have won that year if he had not gotten hurt. Hopefully, we can turn the championship into a great recruiting tool. NDSU and villinova seem to be having big recruiting classes. Some of NDSU's best players were hurt before our game with them (especially the best LB in FCS- who is coming back next year).

Who is going to take Matt Frank's place and Taylor Reynolds? They will be hard to replace. Gunner is another one to replace. Then depth.

We are really good in the Defensive backfield, any more good players would be for the near future

It looks pretty certain Kyle Davis is being recruited as a long snapper.

Liberty has a nice recruiting database. It listed MJ Hampton as an ATH and JMU commit.

As another note, they have about 90 recruits listed, including ones that are committed elsewhere. MY is the only one that is has given a JMU commitment. I would have guessed out of 90 that we would have had more than 1 but our friend EW and TXST appears to have gotten one of their recruits as well.

Marcus Hawkins (DL recruit) is officially enrolled this semester and I'm assuming working out with the team. Getting him in the weight room early will be huge for his development. I'm expecting big things from him moving forward.

Also, Anthony Womack is no longer in the jmu system

Looks like we picked up a local kid, Jesse Layne. He's from Broadway. Can't find much about him online so I'm not sure if he's a walk on or actually had a scholarship offer.
